Wise Transfers

Recommended Posts

Sorry on my phone unable on forum to locate any ongoing topic on Wise?

Ive been using Wise for years happy until 6 months ago Ive read posting as to why? Gotten recent email things are faster fees are lower.

Anyone know of another comparable to Wise on this board. Ive yet to find better rates and fees.

Why Im asking instead of faster it is getting slower much slower!

Im not doing anything different massive large amount for example in the past I transact 1500.00 USD. 24-36 hours tops if I request anything under 1000 USD, as noted within seconds.  Last 6 months not so although they are noting before submission seconds after noted a different time 2-3 days. Today 900 USD noted within 4 seconds after noted not until the 4th Monday WTF.

It isnt getting faster but much slower!

I'm finding Wise from the UK very 'hit and miss' at the moment. Maybe a month ago transferred around 100k baht to my Kasikorn account and took nearly 5 days to arrive. I have subsequently made 2 transfers of very similar amounts and arrived in under 15 seconds.

Some say 'reason for transfer' makes a difference. Also, some suggest not sending on a Friday as it won't arrive until Monday or Tuesday. Another issue (although not important to myself) is even if I put the reason as 'Long term stay' it does not appear in my bank book as an international transer. It shows as local transfer.

No definitive answer from myself as to the problem I'm afraid. I will stick with them for now though as the issues aren't a deal breaker for myself.

Check Revolut I've read people saying they are better now, maybe right, maybe not

I was sat with a friend a couple of weeks ago who was trying to use Revolut for the first time. He was attempting to make a tiny transfer just to try it out.

The hoops he had to jump through totally put him off and there was a delay in the transfer. He has gone back to Wise due to the hassle.

I would add though, he's not the sharpest tool in the box so the 'issues' could well have been down to him.

I'm using my Revolut card to send money to a Wise account, the vendor sent me a message about 7 hours ago telling me she just spoke to wise..... "the Wise credit card systems are down for 2 working days" so assume back online Monday US time.

Revolut I've had about 2 months, for me it's working well, transfers from my linked bank account to top up the card take 5 to 10 seconds. I upgraded to a metal card so I can use ATMs with currency exchange fees being free first usd $1,000 then 1% after that each month. ATM fees by the Thai bank about 250 baht.

Exchange rates have been good.

I use Nord VPN and Nord password manager, with Revolut you get these for free. That and the USD fee free transfers fund the upgrade to the metal card which gives you the higher fee free transfer amount.

Also I went for Revolut as I use my brothers Australian address for the card, Wise ask for proof of address which I cant do for Australia as I'm living in Thailand.

You also get free Tinder premium, airport lounge access stuff like that but I haven't tried any of that extra stuff.

Took 24hrs to transfer from a Melbourne based bank to another Melbourne based bank/youre Revolut account, Revolut states that somewhere, 24hrs, the lay out of the app is different just get your buddy to sit in front of a pc with YouTube and type in what he wants to do, simple, or google it.

Thanks for info about revolut, sound a bit complicated I really dont need or want all those services.

For years Wise never had a problem good rates worse 24 hours, or less as noted if amount was under USD 1000.00 within seconds.

Ive written them and the normal general reply each time yet they are sending me email how they are working to cut fees, faster transfer, etc.. But each time transfers are taking longer and longer no longer as advertised past or present.

My transfers are simple from my U.S. bank to my Bangkok Bank which I access with my ATM card.

I have had Revolut for well over a year but never used it. The setup and app didn't seem too user friendly back then either. I finally set up a Wise account last month and started testing both accounts in the past couple of weeks. The Revolut app is much better now.

The first Wise and Revolut transfers of £500 each, both posted within a minute.

However, a couple of subsequent Wise transfers, one of them £1000, have taken about 24-hours with a 'Sorry, this is taking longer than expected' message.

I haven't re-tested Revolut yet.
