My guess, this is Thailand as to how they budget their work. As you know the gravel was laid all the way down to 36, North to the south Sattahip to the airport.

They laid the dirt and gravel roll over to pack it down then it rains Settling the dirt today it is as hard as cement. i noticed this same principal use when land is purchased or a project is to be built  a bit below they bring in dirt pack it down then let it settle months before starting to built.

When it is time they will fine tune it and spend billion on beautification along the route like they do on Sukhumvit where one has to travel KM to the next light and sit wait for light to change although no vehicles are coming.

No way is a "high-speed rail" going to be run at surface level through an urban area with street crossings.  No way, not even in Thailand!

 

The project calls for 250 km/h intercity, and 160 km/h within cities.  Normally, the Chinese.....you know the folks with tens of thousands of kilometers of high speed rail experience......will run the line on pylons through the urban areas, with speeds reduced to 80-90 kmh, with all stations elevated.

 

So, no.  The line is NOT going to be at surface level.  I'ma bet that's just the result of corruption and delays.  What you're seeing is just a temporary gravel access road within the existing railroad ROW to allow for construction of a line of concrete pylons.

 

Completion is still set........currently.........for 2029, meaning sometime in the 2050's.

There has been a large drain running the length of beach road for 3 or 4 years now. It doesn't drain into the ocean. It is instead pumped into the ocean by large pumps situated near walking street and soi 6. The sea water doesn't drain back into the drains because there's a sea wall between the ocean and the drains.

That is you opinion!  

Are you a resident if Pattaya! 

You pop a photo of outside of Pattaya, outside of Bangkok Bang Na area leading to Chon Buri!

If you have such a strong stance then do me a favor there is already a master plan put it up.

If not, please give me a hint how and where they purpose to run this train through Pattaya cause I run around to Rayong, Sattahip. Utapoa and I dont see any construction anywhere!

I dont dismiss the pylons idea and your timeframe 2050 :cheesy:, if that the case who gives a <deleted> what they do I be long gone before then!

I don't quite understand.  You ask how it will run through Pattaya, but previously you posted the route is being prepared.

My opinion here in Pattaya just Pattaya based on years back them laying dirt and gravel opposite the railroad tracks and packing it down.

 

Now I will admit the rise Pallons as picture shows I had not envision my shortcoming will be a real eyesore but not surprising in Thailand. Still doesnt sway my concern with the vehicle congestion on these intersections nor does it answer question they arent using the area next to the current railroad tracks as I noted which had again been place years back.

I travel, the area where the train is noted and see zero work being prepare Rayong or Sattahip. As for Pattaya the major tourist draw I wonder where else they plan to place these massive stations.

Well, OK then!

 

The high-speed rail line will be elevated, as will the stations.

Same as with almost all urban high-speed rail, as there are NO surface-level road intersections, and no traffic barriers raised/lowered each time the trains pass.  I say almost as TIT!  Never underestimate local officials capacity to screw things up.

 

You'll see the same in Bangkok with the high-speed rail and the Airport Link and the new red line to Don Muang.  Elevated lines and stations.  For efficiency and cost savings and space considerations, the lines will be constructed on existing railway ROW when possible.

 

So, yes, the gravel roads you've seen are likely part of the Pattaya high-speed rail.  That they've sat there, "settling" as you call it, for years, is simply a testament to corruption and incompetence.  They haven't even started building the pylons, and will likely have to reroute for one reason or another before its over.

 

If they had simply contracted the Chinese to build the system, it would already be in operation.  Consider the new high-speed rail that runs from Kunming to Vientiane, about 1000 km through difficult terrain, including 59 stations and hundreds of kilometers of tunnels and bridges through the mountains, was built ahead of schedule and under budget, at only $6 billion, which I believe is less than the cost of just the Vientiane to Korat first phase, already years behind schedule................

These people who try to attempt to fix the drainage problem definitely need help and advice from some western countries because that 2metre pipe will be half full with plastic,cement and garbage clogging it up before being completed and then what are they going to do.Build another 2metre tunnel.

I wonder if they will get a team of those Burmese women in funny hats in there to clean them out?
