In a dramatic turn of events in Pattani's Yarang district, Police Lieutenant Colonel Abdulhadi Yurae, 52, narrowly escaped a deadly attack by two armed assailants while returning home from evening prayers. The incident occurred around 20:30 on November 4, as Lt. Col. Abdulhadi was riding his motorcycle home after praying at a local mosque in the Patani province.

According to initial reports, two individuals on a Honda Wave motorcycle approached Lt. Col. Abdulhadi on a village road in Chamoo, Pitu Mudi subdistrict. The assailants fired a gunshot that struck his chest. Fortunately, the bullet hit his mobile phone, which was in his left chest pocket, deflecting the impact. A second shot then struck him, piercing through his cheek.

Despite his injuries, Lt. Col. Abdulhadi managed to draw his firearm and return fire. It is believed he may have injured one of the attackers before they fled the scene. Lt. Col. Abdulhadi was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his condition is stable.

Local authorities are actively investigating the incident, gathering evidence, and tracking down the attackers.

Good to know they aren't inactively investigating, which is the norm.
