In an incident on November 12, a father was killed and his 3 year old son left in critical condition after their tractor suffered a tyre blowout, veered off course, and overturned into a canal, trapping both beneath. The tragedy unfolded in full view of the man’s wife, who followed closely behind.

Police from the Phan Thong district in Chonburi received an emergency call at around 11:00. The incident occurred along the Phan Thong-Koh Loi road in Moo 2, Koh Loi Subdistrict, Phan Thong District, Chonburi. Rescue teams from Jaturatham Prateep Foundation and Thammaratsamee Maneerat Foundation were dispatched to the scene.

At the location, rescuers found a large tractor overturned and almost submerged in the canal. The left front tyre had punctured, likely causing the vehicle to lose control. Rescuers began a swift underwater search and located the unconscious bodies of Mr. Somchate Moonjad, 38, and his 3 year old son, Praphat Ruanngam.

Rescue teams managed to pull both father and son from the water, where they were found unresponsive and without a pulse. Despite their efforts to revive Mr. Somchate, he was declared dead at the scene. His young son showed faint signs of life and was quickly transferred to Chonburi Hospital in critical condition.

Ms. Athitaya Ruanngam, the grieving wife, shared through tears that her husband had been returning home from plowing fields in Bang Nang, accompanied by their son on the tractor. She had been driving behind them when the tyre suddenly burst, causing the tractor to veer off the road and flip into the canal. Helpless, she called for assistance from nearby residents and alerted emergency services.

Local police will continue their investigation, interviewing Ms. Athitaya further to understand the full details of the incident.

And why was a 3 year old travelling on a tractor rather than safely with his mother?

Doesnt anyone think about safety here?

It's normal for the country side to let the small children ride on the tractor. Not only related to Thailand
