Family in Fear as Drug-Addicted Son Goes on Rampage, Sets Fire to Pickup Truck

Police in Bang Lamung received report of a violent rampage involving a drug-fuelled individual who destroyed property and set fire to a pickup truck, causing significant damage to both the vehicle and the family home. Officers quickly responded to the incident, which took place at a residence in Takhian Tia, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

 

Upon arrival, officers and local residents were seen working together to extinguish the flames engulfing a gray Isuzu pickup truck, license plate from Rayong, which had been doused in gasoline and set ablaze. Smoke billowed from the charred remains of the vehicle, which was damaged by the fire. Further inspection revealed extensive damage to the house, including broken walls, damaged fans, and other household items. The suspect, identified as the homeowner’s son, had fled before authorities arrived, leaving shocked neighbours expressing outrage and cursing his behaviour.

 

Ms. Supawadee Nanbutrdee, 48, the suspect’s mother, identified her son as 28-year-old Sarawut Siriwong, or “Win.” She described him as her beloved only son, whom she had always cared for and provided with whatever he desired. However, he had recently fallen into drug addiction, resulting in unpredictable and aggressive behaviour. She recounted that, prior to the incident, Sarawut had been searching frantically for a “Rama V coin,” a demand no one understood. When the coin couldn’t be found, he began destroying household items and threatened to kill his parents and other family members. Ms. Supawadee, fearing for their safety, went to file a complaint with the police.

 

While at the police station, she received word that her son had poured gasoline over the family’s pickup truck and set it alight. Concerned for the safety of her family and the surrounding community, Ms. Supawadee decided to press charges against her son, hoping that he would not only be arrested but also receive drug rehabilitation.

 

During a search of the scene, officers discovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver concealed in a bag, along with another dismantled firearm and a variety of ammunition. Ms. Supawadee informed the police that her son had another firearm with him when he fled, raising concerns about his potential to harm others. Authorities have categorised him as dangerous and are urging the public to remain vigilant.

 

Bang Lamung Police Sub-Inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Sitthawat Chawakornthirarat led the investigation, collecting evidence, including firearms and CCTV footage, to build a case. A special investigation team has been deployed to locate and apprehend Sarawut so he can face legal consequences and receive necessary rehabilitation.
