In a digital world with more and more connectivity between Government institutions like customs and benefits, combined with Artificial Intelligence, it is going to be much more difficult to claim a pension in the UK whilst living in Thailand. At some point they will catch up with you.

They will run a programme that searches for people who have left the UK and not returned (or have been away long enough to be non resident)  and compare that to people claiming UK pension as a resident of the UK. The you will get a "nudge" letter asking you to explain yourself.

Only a matter of time.

You think. Been saying this since  the  thread was formed ,was it 2012?  .Its a contributed pension, not means tested.

Could leave the UK and travel anywhere EU  US anywhere, and they DWP can nudge all they want (they wont)  Its a non sanctionable, disqualifying benefit       Other means tested benefits definitely, but Id look be looking at the loss   ,yes 8.8% is a bit high to judge by but its a loss with compounding something like £82000 over something like 16 years

Join me in calling for the UK government to increase their migration

I would like to see migrants moved and housed in those small country villages and take them over ,tear all.those old buildings down and put up high rise housing I say

I don't know why all the poms are not as lovely as you Donnie

There you go .... it's like an inbuilt gene in them. I challenge anyone in Thailand to find me one British guy on a pension who isn't racist.

Yes nearly every one of them Donnie

About time they embraced the diversity & culture of the aspects of migration and got over their Islamophobia

I agree those quaint english villages must be used for immigration

I think my point was that the technology will catch up with you eventually. And it is an offence to make a false claim. They are likely to want to recover any excess payment, and impose penalties.

You are right that it is not means tested but I’m seeing articles in the media more and more that suggest that a Government might eventually go down that route for what they deem “wealthy pensioners”. You can’t rule that out in the future.

No it will not, not for OAP. Depending where its made and not likely to recover anything (regulations  Non sanctionable/disqualifying ) Yes more and more articles, bombarded with them, but its UC mainly and those howls will be getting much  louder ,especially from the 35000  in Birmingham , could include Bradford, Rotherham  Blackburn too.  Good eh!  Cannot access claim forms thru language barriers

...all that too.    If you were in the forces, write to the veterans minister  at m o d,  those guys will turn water into wine for you, from signing up to the grave ,so they state.  Possibly  get you unfrozen.  They also state u have done your bit for the country ,now its our turn to help you.   Thank You

Never understood Graduated or Serps, only when I retired it sure put the OAP up

I did write to the veterans minister a few years back, Johnny Mercer at the time. I got a reply from his wife, his secretary, saying he would be looking into it but never got any response from him, even though he put his name to the APPG.

As far as the government is concerned, if you want to live in certain jurisdictions, you are no longer thanked for your service. The discrimination became very obvious when this was said in 2019.

"Work and Pensions Secretary Dr Thérèse Coffey said:
Pensioners in Europe who have paid into the system for years deserve peace of mind over their future finances."

Yes, GP and SERPS are added to state pension but also frozen, although being specified as pension schemes.

You are making the assumption that legislation cannot be infallible, if that was the case gay men would still go to prison.

The government will only right the wrongs of the past if they are pushed into it, on frozen pensions there is very little pushing.

There all the time sunshine, and might I add are you sure of the "folk I don't like"  Most of one kind are in jail, and the other do not exist in TH

But then I could ask about the stiff upper lip of yours, how is it holding up? and taking it on the chin on losing £82000  over the years you have been there in TH      I know @8.8% increase on OAP is a bit high ,rounded figure Id put at £60000 ,sixty thousand smackers over your time there. A bit hard on the weight on the wallet (or not) Id say.

Reminiscent of a couple of bosses I had whilst in uniformed public sector there in UK  "how do you feel, how do you feel, passing the exams and people getting promoted before you"  Explained Id rather be sat on my arse all day.

The question is how do you feel losing all that money ,and not sat on your arse all day. lol

Nah Id say  the irony is not lost, there is a deal of difference. I'm paying my way, the other isn't.  Admitted I don't like 'em, seeing loads of them wandering up every high street, looking at every opportunity to improve themselves robbing and thieving    My understanding is ,do not come within a million miles of me and I sure as hell will not come a million miles of you

If you are staying in a place where you do not like the people it is quite obvious that you are staying in the wrong place in Thailand

Make up your mind...if you don't want to live with Mohammed your house price will decrease...a few countries rely on ever increasing immigration to keep the house prices rising. What a Brit is worth without real estate equity? Next to nothing.

Id say the opposite, Mohammed will bring the value of your house crashing down if he came close.   Needs real estate to eventually pay for care home, no RE  free

The State Pension comes with a transfer code, something like this

????? / DWP / ??????

Anyone who is getting the State Pension paid to a UK account,  the new changes will allow the DWP to look into your account.

I wonder what will happen, when the look at an account, see multiple transfers out via wise or similar and no UK Transactional data, like the use of a debit card in the UK.

The ' Stop Payment ' button will be smacked and a letter will be sent out telling you your pension has been stopped and you have an interview in 2 days time to explain why it should be ' Unstopped '

Guess what is going to happen when you miss that interview ?

Is this correct  I do mean is it a fantasy of yours mixed in with a load of jealousy.

I would not wonder anything sunshine, not to be, as stated  "the new changes "  not for SP ,but from your prospective Id look at DWP rules and regulations. There will be no "STOP PAYMENT "  lol  as by law pensioner must receive a pension, not "smacked with a letter" maybe your arse smacked as to false information

You only have to guess at the non-interview  get on that bike and pedal off into the septic tank
