I'm on a Non-Imm O (marriage) visa extension that's not up for renewal until August 2025. But soon I'll get a new US passport and will need to visit Chaeng Wattana to transfer the extension stamp. Been seeing in other posts here that I'll likely be asked to show my bank book to do that.

Question is, if my bank book shows less than the 400,000 baht that was required to get the extension, is that a problem? Since getting the extension in June I've needed to gradually send money back to my US account to pay for bills and things back there. So, my Thai bank account will be showing considerably less than 400,000 baht when I need to transfer to new passport.

From previous research, I didn't think I needed to keep 400,000 in the Thai account at all times between extensions. I have earnings coming from the US next year so my plan was to top up my Thai bank account 3 months prior to applying for my next visa extension. Now I'm worried the IO at CW will hassle me if I don't have the full 400,000 baht in the Thai account when transferring passports.

Thanks for any help with this.

For extensions based on marriage the 400k only needs to be in bank for 2 months prior to application plus under consideration period.

Here is link for transfer stamps CW

Can't remember any Report that you have to show proof of Money when transferring Stamps from old to new Passport. Have done it twice since I'm living in Thailand, one time Pattaya and the other time in Hua Hin, never asked for.

It's not required for the OP as funds are not required to be maintained in bank for extension based on marriage using money in bank method.

However a new requirement for folk with extensions based on retirement using money in bank method...

Bank book required along with photocopies of pages back to last extension along with deposit (update) on day of application.

New requirement. Not listed on the link o posted earlier.

Thanks DrJack, much appreciated.

If bank book is also being requested of people with extensions based on marriage when transferring to new passport, I wonder what the purpose is. Maybe they want to see we've already updated the new passport number with the bank so that Immigration can get the updated bank book on file? In that case I best scurry off to Kasikorn before hitting CW.

Recent rule at the 'L' desk at CW. Multiple reports of this with retirement extension holders using money in the bank.

Yep. I did stamp transfer on March 6 at CW.

Had to photocopy pages of bankbook back to last extension and do update. (I just made a deposit)

Miracle that I had bank book with me.

It's to get another agent-fee out of those who used agent-money for their extensions - must pay the agent, again, for this "free" service.

Read the OP.

He is using money in bank method for extension based on marriage.

He is not using agent for extensions.

He is dealing with CW and bankbook will not be required.

Note to OP, have bb with you even though won't be required.

For those with extensions based on retirement at CW your financial compliance will be checked..

What goes at Jomtien and Hua Hin doesn't recessarily go at Chaengwattana! And vice versa, of course!!
