i do not believe the intention was to close the border. The intention is to aid in stopping the illegals reaching that point and help fight the fentanyl flowing through the borders. 

The mexican president (after speaking with Trump about the impending tariffs)  Has now redirected the caravans heading for the border and dispersed them throughout Mexico. That is my take on the news being shared and posted in reliable news services.
