My girlfriend blasts tiktok songs throughout the entire movie.  Not a care in the world.  Another trick she does is walk out for 10 minutes then return and say "Who's he?  What happened?"

 

Then there is the one where she goes up to sleep and says text me what happened.

 

How about you?  Can your girlfriend view anything beyond the level of a coloring book?

 

So, why do you watch movies with her ?

AS she has no interest in movies, why does she watch them ?

I seek out movies or series which have a plot she can follow and I pause the action, occasionally, to explain things that she may have missed due to the language gap.

 

If she or I need to take a break to brew a cup of tea (her) or pour another beer (me), or even answer the phone, I hit the pause button until we are settled down to watch again.

 

At the moment we are watching a lot of Agatha Christie whodunits. She loves it when she guesses the identity of the murderer before me.  

 

We are 68 and 56, so not of the tiktok generation.

I don't bother anymore. When the old lady goes with me and the kid to a movie, we lay down the ground rules for her about using her phone.

 

At home we don't watch movies together. She watches hers and I do my own thing.

I solved this by watching pron together 

Kinda normal for girls to sleep during a movie, it will only get worse with social media, i recently walked out of the cinema during Dune, movies at home i often switch off within an hour

Find a girlfriend more your age. It will save on buying toys at Christmas.

Went to see 404 yesterday, and it was funny to watch with my wife, and last week the Gladiator 2. Great to enjoy a movie once and awhile with wife. 

 

So to answer your stupid question, yes she knows how to watch a movie like a human. 

 

I'm more worried about the standard of this forum, letting these stigmatizing and generalized threads flourish from a handful of members, who seems to rize and dissappear, for then come back with a new nick, and do the same all over again.

Thankfully we share some interest in the same genres (horror, action, sometimes older X-rated stuff). Usually (if streaming or Blu-ray) we try a combination of english / thai - subtitles / language. Lots of fun....she's also heavy into South Korean dramas. She has a lot of husbands (Park Bo-gum, Song Jun Ki 😉).

It depends on the movie.

When we watched in the cinema "Fall Guy" she didn't pay much attention.

When I joined her for the Thai movie "Tee Yod 2" I didn't pay much attention.

Same same, not much different.

I used to go to the cinema and watch English soundtrack and read the Thai subs. But it annoyed me the subs were all sanitised, and not at all accurate. Never took a woman, always went with pals as I didn't have to buy their tickets and snacks.

Yeah, but I get fed up with cartoons.

My other half loves Border Force and Nothing to declare and howls with laughter when they get caught, especially if they are Thai.

Thai news is too difficult for them. They have no idea, can’t follow it.

 

So they complain about watching English fictional garbage and are surprised that their rentals don’t seem to share the same enthusiasm.

When we came out of the last Planet of the Apes film she asked me if the monkeys were real, got annoyed when I laughed. Told her later I looked it up they were real but they had a hard time teaching them English, she said she thought so.

Mine too! I gotta admit I find these hilarious sometimes... The look on these peoples' faces is priceless when they get busted! How did they think bringing a suitcase full of dried tiger penises wouldn't get a second look???!!! 🙃

My long-time live in Thai GF likes to watch action and horror movies (English with Thai subs) but hates gratuitous sex scenes, or where women are scantily clad adding nothing to the movie plot so immediately loses interest and walks away

We watched Oppenhiemer together. When it was out. She took it in and gave some good insights over an after movie beer. not daft my old lady.

 

However - one time she mentioned that if possible, she would like to reborn as a fish due to their obvious high intelligence - on accounts they are full of omega-3!!
