No idea, some thieves stole the main phone cables again, so all my area is without phone, and hence no ADSL either :o

My GPRS (Edge) back-up is performing quite nicely though...

With my Dtac sim card I get:

Last Result:

Download Speed: 109 kbps (13.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 36 kbps (4.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

And with my AIS (one2call) sim

Last Result:

Upload Speed: 57 kbps (7.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

On all the above links I get 850-900kbps down and 400-450kbps up on a TRUE 1Mbps ADSL in BKK.

Also used speedtest.net to US and EU with same results.

It looks like that the international speed is limited at you office. The sline speed in your office is min. 8 Mbps down and 8 Mbps up that should brings alot better result. Check with your IT-Dep.!

Is it a leased line (looks like)?

The last few weeks my ADSL (Maxnet, TT&T) crawled several time to a halt, with ping times of over 800 msec to Thai visa (normally between50 and 70 msec), and hardly any data transfer, time outs etc...

Invariably, a tracert showed the problem to be with one of CAT's IIG's.

Servers located within Thailand with ping times of over 500 msec indicate some serious problems with those servers...

True enough, when calling Maxnet's customer service, the reply was that the problem was with CAT, and not with Maxnet's servers...

Try to do a tracert to Thaivisa and see if there are hops with ping times of over a couple hundred milliseconds. Normally all hops should remain under 100 msec. If there is a bad one, do a whois on the IP address and see who the IP belongs to.

You can also download the program PingPlotter from the TV-Download and use instead of tracert may mor easy to read because of graphical interface!

Thaivisa :-
