Hi there., I've been using a DTAC one year sim card for the past 3 years without a problem. In recent weeks it's down to a crawl, some programs won't even open. My current sim card is only 6 weeks old. Is there anyway I can increase the wifi speed. From 5 am to 8 am the wifi speed halves. I worked for a gas company years ago we had boosters that kicked in for peak times daily. Apparently wifi companies don't use these same systems.

Since the speed of your connection varies according to the time of day, the drop in speed is most likely due to congestion on the mobile data network in your area.  There isn't much you can do about that.

You may need to switch to a different mobile data provider or to a cable/fiber based connection.

I tested my wifi several kilometres from where I live and I had the same wifi speed. I'm going to DTAC tomorrow to see if I can sort out this problem. In the mean time I use a hot spot for the wifi on my laptop. I just purchased an new iphone so can wifi settings make my wifi slower. I've used DTAC for several years now and never had this problem before until DTAC merged with True.

Funny to read this as I actually always used truemove so far and just since a week i tried out a DTAC sim card which is the fastest 5G I ever had, getting easily 130 mpbs speedtest results too, it's better than my wifi really.

Is it unlimited useage and if so how much does it cost per month.

Depends on the package you choose, there are so many options which depend on each person needs. You can just see online. I think it is the tourist sim cards being the problem, they seem slow + not as good deals.

I'm not a tourist as I've been living in Thailand for 24 years. My sim card cost 2,290 baht and printed on the cover is 15 Mbps also 12 in Thai writing, I presume 12 months. I only activated it 3 months ago. Maybe my money has run out, if so that's rather quick.

When you buy an annual SIM card , DTAC or AIS. your money will not 'run out'. I have DTAC 60 GB per month, 15 Mb/s. Works perfectly all the time. When home WiFi goes off due to power cut to my Router, I set the Hot Spot on my phone, and connect my PC or Firestick/TV, which are on a UPS, and I can watch for over two hours. The DTAC WiFi never flinches. Get onto DTAC and give them a talking to.

It's NOT WiFi and you have simply run out of data allowance for the month. The ONLY annual unlimited data SIM from the majors is Truemove's THOR.  Available from 2800 baht.

3000 baht via Lazada/Shopee

You might have purchased an Unlimited Data SIM in the first instance. Yours is not.

Annual SIM Net, Dtac Invincible SIM, can use unlimited internet, maximum speed 15Mbps, 100GB per month. When used up to the specified amount, the internet speed will be reduced to 128Kbps. Also receive the right to free calls within the network 24 hours a day, 30 minutes per call, and free calls outside the network 60 minutes per month. Pay only once, can be used continuously for 12 months. Price 2,290 baht

Likely you were told this in previous threads. But people here seem to have a habit of thinking they have found something better than they were advised to look at.

It's Mobile Internet and nothing to do with WiFi.

I've only used 17 GB so far this month as it's so slow it's not worth trying to use.

AIS is likely best, but again limited to 100GB. What device are you using with the SIM?

Have you called DTAC on 1678 in order to investigate? Don't waste your time going to a shop. They cannot help. Only the call centre.

My GF has an AIS unlimited. Watches Thai TV non-stop. No problems, except for me listening to that 5hit! 555

AIS is currently charging 481.50 per month for unlimited 10 Mbps or 3500 baht per annum for unlimited 6 Mbps.

GoMo(AIS) 259 baht per month for unlimited 15 Mbps. (3108 baht approx. per annum)

My DTAC unlimited 1-year expires in a couple of months. That's my second year of excellent 4G internet in my shed.

I'm rather disappointed that Truemove is the only (more expensive) game in town as I have been True-averse since forever already. I'm not even sure if their coverage is the best here on the outskirts of Udon Thani.

I just checked my data usage for this month and it's 17.5 GB which is no where near 100 GB per month. I'm going to DTAC this morning to try to sort this out. If I've run out of data can I top up this month and then continue to use up to 100GB for the ensuing  months? If they want me to pay for a new one year sim card I'll be looking for another provider.

What did you not understand about not going there and instead calling them? Why are people so stubborn on this board?

I earlier asked you which device you were using....silence ensued. What's going on?

The stores do not have the facilities to test your connection, other than checking the settings on your phone. They would have to contact Customer Service just like you would. CALL them on 1678 and ask them to investigate. If they cannot fix it within a reasonable time frame, then request a refund

I called DTAC on 1678 3 times before, no answer. I'm using the hotspot on my Iphone 14 connected to my laptop.

How is it possible they don't answer? I just tried them on 02 202 8000 and they answered within a minute. You have to press 0 for a operator when requested to do so and I think 2 for English. Give it a try and let us know how you get on and if you need any assistance.

Another option is to contact them on Facebook.  I found them quite responsive on there when I broke the 100GB allowance a while back, when thinking I had unlimited.

I went to DTAC in Central and the lady there not only spoke moderate English but appeared to have a good knowledge of Iphone trouble shooting. She put my sim card in another phone and the speed jumped dramatically. She told me that my phone is a copy and if I want to improve my speed I needed to buy a new phone. So I bought a new phone for 4,000 baht, now all my problems appear to have been answered. Thanks to all here who offered their suggestions.
