Crime ‘Mr Nobody’ Caught by Police After Home Theft Spree
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A career criminal known locally as “Mr Nobody” has been arrested along with an accomplice after a series of high-value thefts targeting up market homes in Bangkok, netting around 500,000 baht in stolen goods, from his latest crime. At approximately 20:00 on 28 May, Police Colonel Wasan Thawatchaiwirut, Commander of the Patrol Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Special Operations Unit (191), ordered a team led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Natdanai Bamrungsri to apprehend two suspects. The main suspect, identified as Kaew or Kritsanee 43, was arrested under a warrant issued by the Min Buri Criminal Court (No. 755/2568, dated 27 May 2025). He was apprehended along with a second man, Nitikorn 35. Seized during the arrest were a motorcycle, 27 methamphetamine pills, 0.48 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 5,000 baht in cash and drug paraphernalia. The arrests followed a burglary reported on 19 May at 16:30 in an upscale housing estate located in the Bang Chan area of Khlong Sam Wa district. Thieves broke into a private residence and made off with valuables worth around 500,000 baht. Surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts helped investigators identify the suspects, who were seen using a motorcycle and disguising their faces with masks. Following a warrant from Min Buri Criminal Court, officers tracked the suspects to an unnumbered residence in Rangsit, Thanyaburi district, Pathum Thani province, where the arrest was made. During questioning, both suspects reportedly confessed to the burglary. No stolen goods were recovered at the scene, but narcotics and drug-use equipment were discovered. A background check revealed that Kritsanee has a long criminal history, including seven previous arrests for theft, drug offences, and firearms possession. Nitikorn is wanted by the Phuket Provincial Court in connection with charges of public fraud and inputting false information into a computer system. The suspects have been handed over to Thanyaburi Police Station for further legal proceedings on drug charges. Authorities have also alerted investigators in jurisdictions where outstanding warrants remain active. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-05-30. -

Report Nightmare in Phuket: British Family's Pricey Villa Scam Uncovered
I would only use Agoda or direct to the Hotel in Thailand. Although Agoda are owned by the same American conglomerate (Booking Holdings) Agoda seem to have their sh!t together. I even find that their prices are better than direct to the hotel. Most direct websites compare prices before adding service fees and taxes. CHristmas???? -

Thai MOE National Testing
Thanks. After more digging, I'm finding the answer to my question is the test questions are evenly distributed between topics. The American schools are getting ready for summer break, and when they get back I will ask a teacher or two I know there to give their students a 20-question quiz sampled from these tests. I suspect native speakers won't do much better, these questions are often ambiguous with no clear correct answer. I spoke with the director of the school who was trained at a University in London, and she understands my frustration. She admitted it's a general flaw in the overall Thai educational system. Multi-guess is the perfect description! -

Fire Transformer Fire at Bang Chalong Housing Complex Triggers Chaos – Six Injured in Escape
Picture courtesy of Amarin. Panic erupted at a low-income housing complex in Bang Chalong, Bang Phli District, on the morning of 29 May, after a large transformer caught fire, sending thick smoke through the building and forcing terrified residents to leap from floors to escape. Six people were injured in the incident, though none critically. At approximately 11:30, Bang Phli Police Station received an emergency call reporting a transformer explosion near Building 115 in the Baan Eua-Arthorn Suvarnabhumi 2 project, commonly referred to as Baan Eua-Arthorn Bang Chalong. A massive plume of smoke was seen billowing from the structure, prompting a swift response from local fire crews and rescue units. According to officials, the blaze began with an electrical short circuit in the outdoor transformer located beside the building. The fire then spread to electrical wiring and fittings inside the building, triggering additional short circuits and power failures. Smoke rapidly filled the interior, leading to panic among the residents. Several occupants were seen jumping from the building to escape the heavy smoke, while others fell down staircases in the chaos. Emergency personnel treated six individuals for injuries ranging from sprains to bruises. All victims were transported to nearby hospitals and authorities confirmed that none suffered serious harm. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it spread to other parts of the complex. An investigation is now underway to determine the precise cause of the electrical failure and whether safety standards had been adequately maintained. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-05-30.
