After having my desktop on hibernate for weeks, I decided to turn it off completely last night. This morning it took my ages to start, by continuing pressing the button, then a notice came up saying my One Drive was full. I do not use One Drive and no nothing about it, nor am I interested in it.

Anyone got any advice for me?

You could un-install One Drive, via Control Panel/Programs.

But I find One Drive so useful for backing up all my data, photos, etc etc. It's easy to upgrade your storage to what you need, or take out a 365 subscription for about 80 quid a year, which would give you, and 5 Family members (which can all be yourself) 1 TB of storage, plus 100 minutes of Skype, each, to almost anywhere in the World.  One Drive can be installed on your Laptop and Mobile phone, so you can access your Data from anywhere.

Other Cloud Storage systems are available eg Google Drive, but One Drive integrates with W11 best.

The only data I really use is movies and music, the music is on another phone and the movies are on my external hard drive.

I am mainly concerned at how long I took to start my desktop this morning after I turned it off completely last night after keeping it on hibernate for months.

OK, cannot help on the start up, sorry. Try booting without the external hard drive, or any USB devices plugged in.

Turn it off completely and then start to see if the problem repeats.  It might not. You could be all good.

See if it will start with one press of the button, not continuously pressing it.

Actually, disconnect from the mains, press the on/off in order to discharge the power supply, Then plug back in and hopefully the problem is solved.

Hibernate Mode:

  • Completely Off: Saves your session to the hard drive and completely powers down the PC.

This is possibly why you got the full disk message. Better to sleep or turn off.
