Toyota Landcruiser, Prado etc in Thailand

Featured Replies

I see the occasional used Landcruiser and Prado pop up for sale, sometimes at a very low price for 2010-2015 model. Generally never see them much unless they are Laos registered vehicles. I was wondering if its because there is some legal restriction or huge yearly / transfer tax on these sort of vehicles? I ma guessing they are imports...Last one I saw was a 3 liter Diesel Prado. Can anyone shed any light on this?

They were all imports and subject to high tax and thus expensive - given the Toyota branding I think people with that sort of money to be spending on a car would generally tend to go for the Mercedes ML and Lexus RX's...

Thus: there are not many around, and those that are around are still considered expensive: i.e. a 2012 Prado is 1.5 Million baht which is a lot for a 13 year old car.

Then I wonder where the OP sees them at very low prices.

Yup - I thought that was a bit odd from the Op too..

A 24 year old Land Cruiser is still 600,000 baht.

... Thus, the 'low price' may be subjective...
