Pattaya Beach Swarms with Tourists; Locals Voice Concerns
Supposedly they stopped years ago. Not sure I believe it and I don't go into the water. In fairness even if I knew it was clean I'd probably not. I like REALLY clean crystal clear warm water. Even then for a short period so I'm not a big beach person. -

What's a just OK not great not horrible holiday tip amount for condo doorman, etc.
My condo has a holiday tip box for all staff so they're definitely into getting tips so no cultural taboos there. There are two people I would like to tip directly one the person that deals with delivery packages because I use a lot and the other the main doorman. I understand something ridiculous like 100 baht would mark a person on a stink list much much more than no tip, but I'm not in Kansas anymore and am not moved to overtip either. The package receiving person because I feel kind of guilty for creating so much work and not a lost package yet, and the doorman not so much that he has really ever helped me personally in any significant way, but more selfishly because he's in a position of some power and wouldn't hurt to grease the gears a bit in case I do need his help. I do give incidental tips to staff people when they help me directly in a specific way, such as maintenance people. Pattaya/Jomtien, not Manhattan where I guess in some buildings people are giving thousands of dollars and if they don't, it's <deleted> list time. What amount would you suggest? -

ICE vs EV, the debate thread
That's not our experience. Their range chart is way off also. When we can do 90 kph, rare, but 2 stretches, we can do it consistently, PKK - Pranburi & Pkk - Chumphon. We average about 14kWh/100kms +/-, nothing like 18kWh/100kms -

Thailand Unveils Bold Tax Reform as VAT Proposal Faces Backlash
52% of Thais are self employed, mainly in majority cash flow businesses. Most are not registered for income tax, and Thailand would have to employ another million on the public sector payroll to be able to assess their incomes! -

Best Bread in Chiang Mai (3 Winners; 1 Loser; 1 Wild Card)
I don't know about deliveries. I always go in person as I like to see what I'm buying (and to see if there is anything else I fancy) and it's also on my morning route march. -

Retirement with 800k in the bank - do you need a 12 month overview or just last 3
In Pattaya a copy of the year's transactions in your passbook is fine as long as every single transaction is shown with no composite entries. Bring in the original passbook as well. Otherwise (composite transactions) you do need the full year's statement from the bank.
