I'd wait till someone who knows what they are talking about...DrJack.....before accepting this answer

When extending a visa-exempt stay in Thailand to visit your Thai spouse, you should use the TM.7 form. This form is officially titled “Application for Extension of Temporary Stay in the Kingdom” and is required for such extensions.

Key Points:

• Form TM.7: This is the standard application form for extending a temporary stay in Thailand.

• Supporting Documents: Along with the TM.7 form, you’ll need to provide:

• Your passport or travel documents.

• Proof of your marriage to a Thai national, such as a marriage certificate.

• Any additional documents as specified by the local immigration office.

• Application Process: Submit the completed TM.7 form and supporting documents to the immigration office in the area where you reside.

• Extension Period: Typically, extensions granted for visiting a Thai spouse can be up to 60 days.

• Fee: The processing fee for the extension is 1,900 Thai Baht.

For detailed information and to download the TM.7 form, you can visit the Samut Prakan Immigration Office’s official website.

It’s advisable to contact the local immigration office directly or consult their official website for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the extension process and required documentation.

TM7.

So you are applying for 30 day extension to the visa exempt entry OR 60 day extension to visa wife.

Both use TM7

The TM47 is used for 90 day reports

OK, thanks..

Extend VE 60 day entry by 60 days to visit wife,  (Ubon town office will not on a VE, only give 30 days), so I am going to another office in the Ubon area that I have been told on here does extend 60 days to visit wife via an VE entry.........🤗

Surprised Ubon office will not provide 60 day extension to visit wife from visa exempt entry.

Here is a cut/paste from ubonjoe..

"You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife.

It does not matter what visa you used for entry. It can even be applied for to extend a visa exempt entry"

Yes, my friend Joe told me all that many moons ago, I have 'talked' at length with the Ubon town office personnel, they would not budge, 30 days....They told me to do a border run next time to get 60 days...🙄

I will report back here as to how I get on at their other Ubon office.....☺️

ALL extension of stays use the same form no matter how long or what reason you're getting the extension for
That's the TM7 Application for Extension
https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/14คำขออนุญาตเพื่ออยู่ในราชอาณาจักรเป็นการชั่วคราวต่อไป-ตม.7.pdf

It's two sided print it on ONE piece of paper front and back 🙂

May I piggy-back on this post. How many times can you be allowed to make use of this method,Especially back to back?

The OP is referring to 60 day extension to visit wife.

One extension per entry on new visa or visa exempt.

What is your status currently in Thailand?

Just a bit of forward planning in case I cannot renew my extension for marriage at some time in the future. it would appear that with 2 border runs in a year, I could manage 240 days. Please confirm.

Each border run would provide 60 day visa exempt entry and for each one you could obtain 60 day extension to visit wife.

I can see how you came up with the 240.

Note: wife needs to attend immigration with you for the 60 day extension.

Were there not reports that some offices made you get the 30 day normal extension first and then the 60 day? (as they are classified differently).

Obtaining the 30 day extension first is if you want to obtain both a 30 day extension and also 60 extension to visit wife.

You do not have to obtain 30 extension to say visa exempt or tourist visa..

You can skip the 30 day and just obtain the 60.

As I said, will report back as to what happened at another Ubon immgration office at Sirindthorn for 60 day extension to visit wife...

Same problem, no 60 day using a VE for visit wife........😢

This how it went..

Why have you not gone to your local office..

Because they will only give me 30 days to visit wife.....

If you want 60 days then drive a bit further on to Chong Mek, they will give you 60 days, if they question you just show the marriage papers you have shown here...

I and Mrs.T kept questioning it, and though the guy spoke perfect English, it was hard work, Mrs.T said to me, he said you don't understand.........🤕

I said, I understand that to visit wife is 60 days, but it seems the VE is the problem...

So drove up the road and did a border hop, no probs, but the bloke asked where Mrs.T was, I pointed over his shoulder and said,   Gin kow.....smiled....Stamped in for 60 days.

That is my third 60 day, the guy at immigration said as things are you can keep going across the border for 60 days....

So those who go on about can only do 2 border hops by land are wrong, in my area, no problem..🤗

Not aware of any posts suggesting that the limit of 2 visa exempt entries per calendar year is still in place.

Your situation is not typical.

Opting for border bounce instead of annual extensions is possible since location is UR.

Perhaps you would consider other options if location made bounce far more difficult.

The 2 land border hops per year is out there, but not important. 😉

My post is to advise others who maybe interested, this is the visa forum.

Remember, not all members are not without a problem, hence the visa threads..........🙂

You started a thread asking clarification re TM7 and TM47.

Simple question and  simple answer.

Now posting about ongoing border bounces for visa exempt entries as possible alternative to extensions.
