Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Russia made a "conscious choice" by launching a major attack on his country's energy infrastructure on Christmas Day.

Ukraine's air force said it had detected 184 missiles and drones, but many were shot down or missed their targets.

It said there were casualties from the strikes but gave no figures.

Moscow confirmed the attack and said its goal had been achieved.

That's what happens when using western supplied missiles in Russia.

Would they have been less destructive had they been sent on a different day?

Huh? I distinctly remember posts on this very subforum claiming that Russia had run out of missiles. I guess someone got it wrong, Ukraine perhaps?

Should be strongly condemned the same on any and every day of the year. While I completely sympathize for Ukraine, the 25th is Just another day of the year, despite "holy-day" superstitious beliefs. The destruction and carnage are the same regardless of the date on the calendar and Putin couldn't care less.

I wonder what might be a "human" attack?

The world knows what a low-life Putin is .... I would hope the US or Ukraine special forces assassinate him very soon ....  he deserves no less.

Well Albert Einstein, you haven't exactly sussed out how to correctly reply to a post have you?

Everything about the despot dictator, serial killing madman named Putin is inhumane. The man does not have a decent bone in his body. Think about it, what has Russia done for the world in the last 20 years? What benefits has Russia offered the planet?

They are forlorn nation, a thieving criminal nation

Not everyone agrees with you. Remember the 'west' is only 13% of the world

If he'd have gone to the negotiation table back in 22 this could all have been avoided

You got it wrong (again): this is what happens when Russia fires North Korean supplied missiles into Ukraine.

This comment is textbook insanity and an example of blaming the victim, and it’s completely false and frankly, disrespectful.
Here are just a few points that make it completely insane:

1/ Russia is the aggressor in this conflict, having invaded Ukraine in February 2022. They have continued to launch missile attacks throughout the conflict.
2/ Ukraine has been defending its territory and people against Russian aggression, and they have every right to use whatever means necessary to defend themselves.
3/ Western-supplied weapons have been provided to Ukraine for the purpose of defending against Russian aggression.

Lets hope you may regain your sanity in time to come.

Did this Zelensky allow free and fair elections, or are they still cancelled so he can remain in power unelected and indefinitely ie a dictator?

What's it like living in your little bubble of unreality?

My sanity is boys like myself not having to die in some insane Great Game ( you do know what the Great Game is, don't you? ) because the US wants to have a proxy war with Russia.

I'd say 87% of the world do not support the west in this fiasco.

LOL. They didn't accuse Stalin of being genocidal and he killed something like 20 million people, not counting the ones in WW2.

Lot of faux anger on here and misuse of words. Seems that a lot don't understand what genocidal actually means.

There is a spot of that going on elsewhere but doesn't usually attract much attention from certain posters on here.

Complete B.S., as usual! 😆

United Nations General Assembly Resolution ES‑11/1 is a resolution of the eleventh emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly, adopted on 2 March 2022. It deplored Russia's invasion of Ukraine and demanded a full withdrawal of Russian forces and a reversal of its decision to recognise the self-declared People's Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk.

UN General Assembly

The tenth paragraph of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution of 2 March 2022 confirmed the involvement of Belarus in unlawful use of force against Ukraine.[1]

The resolution was sponsored by 96 countries, and passed with 141 voting in favour, 5 against, and 35 abstentions

Case closed your honor, the defendant is incapable of making a rational thought.  Firstly, the conflict in Ukraine isn’t merely a “proxy war”—it is a war of aggression by Russia that has caused immense suffering for Ukrainians, destroyed lives and infrastructure, and violated international law.  Secondly, the term "Great Game" refers to a period of political conflict between the British and Russian empires in the 19th century. While the geopolitical power struggles of today may echo aspects of the past, it is overly simplistic to reduce the current conflict to a historical analogy.

Why Russia’s War in Ukraine Is a Genocide

Not Just a Land Grab, but a Bid to Expunge a Nation

With every passing day, it is becoming clearer that Russia is committing the gravest crime imaginable in Ukraine: genocide. Russian forces have ravaged many parts of the country, massacring, raping, torturing, deporting, and terrorizing a vulnerable civilian population. A chilling logic lies behind these acts of violence, one that seeks to extinguish Ukrainian national identity, wiping out modern Ukraine as an independent country through the killing and the Russification of its residents.
