A strong kick in the back should suffice!

But I got Mrs. Neville right here and she says otherwise. Are you calling her a liar?

I weigh 81 kg. My scooter weighs 150 kg. Unless you weigh 230 kg, you won't be kicking me in the back. You will be too busy scraping yourself off the pavement, after being flattened.

I do use sidewalks occasionally. However, pedestrians have right of way. I stop and let them pass before moving again.

What an absolutely disgusting attitude from the Thais.

Horrendous even.

Will they ever grow up?

I don't think its about a disgusting or horrendous attitude, neither is it about immaturity...

Riding on the pavement (sidewalk) is just something they've always done...   there really isn't any more to than that....

.. Thus, when told 'not to' there is a manner of indignation because thats what they have always done, day in, day out for years.

c'mon - lighten up...     you've developed a reputation and will of course attract such remarks - it was quite funny if you are thick skinned enough to see the other side of it...

Does that make it ok then?

What if they run a child over and kill him/her? Just carry on regardless?

Thats happened ( a man was knocked over) - its not a rare occurrence and of course its not ok...

https://www.newsflare.com/video/276812/crime-accidents/shocking-moment-motorcyclist-rams-into-pedestrian-who-told-him-not-to-ride-on-the-pavement

Its no more ok than dunk ayholes getting aggressive on the streets of the UK or many other western nations.

There's a lot in the world thats not ok and authorities are failing to deal with the issue.

This is just one of the many negatives of Thailand... but that doesn't mean all Thai's are bad...   there are also many more positives which still makes Thailand a 'net positive' by significant margin....

bob, there is a ฿5000 fine for driving motorcycles on the footpath. You've got the GoPro footage, just report him to the police and stop whingeing about nonsense like an old minger.

I fail to see what the positives are to be quite honest.

For me the negatives for outway any positives.

I'm guilty as charged....   But really disliked doing so...

I used to use a hair salon down the road - it had nowhere nearby to park... So I'd ride my motorcylce 10m down the pavement and park next to a lamp-post (the pavement was about 4m wide).

I don't think there's much harm when going at walking pace just to find somewhere to park etc...

But, using the pavement as a road - IMO, thats a big no-no and bobs right - it is a selfish and antisocial thing to do, even though its the norm....   but its only a very small minority of motorcyclists doing this.. though, I've seen the police riding their motorcycles down the pavement many times.

What to you expect living in Pattaya ?  you need to be a lot more thick skinned or you become jaded and start seeing many neutral things as negative...

bob, you should make a whole series of these annoying posts moaning about all the things that Thai people do that break the rules when they shouldn't. Since you're so entitled to live in a perfect Thailand you should also whine about cutting people in line, street gambling, public drinking, ignoring red lights, not wearing helmets, driving in the wrong direction, driving in the wrong lane, illegal parking, overloading motorcycles, selling alcohol during prohibited hours, ignoring speed limits, ignoring no smoking areas, burning trash, avoiding taxes, noise violations, bribing officials, etc.

Given your attitudes you're in one of two places... Pattaya or Patong...

... or rather, you only have experience of one of those two places...    Perhaps a quick sojourn down to Koh Chang before getting threatened by a ho's bro's !!!

You kidding me? I do all those things myself. That's why I live here, because I can. Aren't you the same? Otherwise, you would be back in Liverpool fixing people's toilets and drinking cheap warm piss beer if you didn't prefer living in the hub of being bent.

Is this behavior acceptable in thailand? Is it the norm?

Why are they so inconsiderate when it comes to pedestrians walking on the pavement??? And why don't they stop at a pedestrian crossing like they are supposed to?..

I gave him the verbals in thai and he just drove off shame faced without saying sorry, the horrible selfish git..

Is this behavior acceptable in thailand? Is it the norm?

yes, and yes. when you've been here longer you'll understand how the place works. next. :coffee1:

When traffic goes from two lanes to one, usually pickups and larger vehicles will ignore the signs, drive to the front of the line, then push back in. Selfish driving, it slows traffic down.

I sometimes wish I had sword blades on my car, like Messala's chariot in Ben Hur, so I could slash their tyres as they go by.

Perhaps the OP should consider taking a katana with him for his constitutionals.

Come and spend some time in my nearest city @BarBoy. You won't see any motorcyclists using the sidewalks.

The sidewalks are so bad even pedestrians don't use them!

Yes. It is you that is unacceptable.

You are lucky he didn't come back with 6 of his mates and beat you into a bleeding mess.

Why are you even in Thailand? You should be back where ever you came from hiding under the bed.

Ignorance of the highest order.

I can see why YOU are in Thailand.
