That is a confusing article . Begins making a claim, then states that the numbers don't add up . The article also states that Hamas and Islamic Jihad have merged to form a group with more members . Islamic Jihad members joining with Hamas are not really new recruits because they were already fighting against Israel . The article then ends by saying all the actual numbers are ununclear -

I don't think 42 percent is very small. I could be smaller, however, were Big Ag forced to pay what American workers demand and, failing that, invest in technology for automated harvesting. USAID has been providing automated harvesting equipment for Central America for 25 years. So far, Big Ag has found it's cheaper to keep hiring illegal labor than invest in modernization. They should be encouraged to do the latter, with enormous fines for hiring illegals. -

Taxi Vomit Row: Driver Clears the Air on Cleaning Fee Dispute
I've always thought the charges for cleaning up vomit was 2000 baht... I can't remember where but I saw a sign suggesting that. At 5000 baht, of course the taxi driver was trying to profit. How much cleaning is required to clean a taxi of vomit so that it no longer smells, there is also the loss of income while the taxi is off the streets being valeted. It might even need new carpets etc. I certainly don't want to get into a taxi that someone chunderred in the day before. Is 5000 baht excessive ? - maybe, but I have no sympathy for the idiot who threw up. -

Car trip ideas help
Saying that, after thought, 3 days may be enough on Phuket, maybe even too much. It's high season, so it will be packed & expensive. If not staying local, Ko Chang or Samet for island, or Khao Yai & such for hills. Maybe even Kanchanaburi or Khao Kho (Phetabun), for some hills & river relaxing. Or just a slower ride down the west Gulf Coast, Hua Hin, Sam Roi Yot, PKK, down to Thung Wua Laem (Chumphon), till bored, then return. Options abound, and I've been to all, except Samet. A day or 2 or 3 is nice at any, especially if never been.
