On the morning of December 30, at approximately 09:25, police from Nong Sarai Police Station were called to the scene of a fatal road accident on Mittraphap Road, near Lam Ta Khong in Nakhon Ratchasima. The incident involved a collision between a car and a motorcycle, resulting in one death and one injury.

Police officers, led by Pol. Col. Supachai Viboon Suksan, and rescue personnel arrived at the scene to find a red Honda motorcycle lying in the middle of the road with damage to its rear. The crash claimed the life of 25-year-old Ms. Aye Aye Khaing, a Myanmar national. Another Myanmar national, 28-year-old Mr. Nyein Myint, sustained minor injuries, including abrasions, and was visibly shaken.

Nearby, a grey Toyota Yaris was found parked in the far-right lane with front-end damage, including a crushed bonnet and a shattered windshield.

Mr. Thongphoon a 40-year-old driver from Khon Kaen, recounted the incident to authorities. He said he was driving alone from Bangkok to his hometown in Khon Kaen when the crash occurred. The road was very busy, with traffic filling all lanes. While driving parallel to another car, the motorcycle suddenly appeared, cutting in front of the vehicle beside him before darting into his lane.

Despite slamming on the brakes and pulling the handbrake, he was unable to stop in time, colliding with the rear of the motorcycle. The force of the crash caused the motorbike to overturn, injuring Mr. Nyein Myint, while Ms. Aye Aye Khaing was thrown off the pillion seat. She struck the car’s windshield before being flung two to three metres onto the road, where she tragically died on impact.

Mr. Nyein Myint, the motorcycle rider, later explained that he and Ms. Aye Aye Khaing were both language teachers at an international school in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima. The pair had been en route to visit the wind farm on Khao Yai Thiang in nearby Sikhiu district but were unfamiliar with the route. In an attempt to navigate through the heavy moving traffic and make a U-turn, they inadvertently crossed paths with the oncoming car, leading to the fatal collision.

Police have launched an investigation into the crash and are working to determine if charges will be filed.
