 A question mark. You kidding.

Try Google "list of countries that ban pit bull dogs'

Even in USA check out how many cannot obtain home insurance if having bit bulls.

Check out deaths and maulings from pit bulls.

One born every minute (not referring to dog, referring to owners)

Enough.

Would it not be wise to also consider a French Poodle, Standard?

These are more user-friendly dogs, and rarely turn on their masters.

Very intelligent.

And, if you live on the beach...then....

They are very good swimmers.

They can also retrieve Frisbees and tennis balls from aquatic envirionmens, such as ponds and open ocean, and almost any body of water.

Keep them closely trimmed, the hair, in hot climates, maybe....

Standard Poodles are very fine dogs for bird hunting, as well....

All kinds of birds.

Maybe I have to start reconsidering my options

Now you have me confused.

I assumed you were having a stir.

Pit Bull ownership is very divisive topic.

One thing is for sure. If I was your my neighbor and you purchased a Pit Bull you would in go straight into my looney bin.

They are a threatening dog and even when fenced are territorial and in general unsettling.

Not for owner or owners children until day they snap.

Plenty of Soi dogs in Thailand.

Adopt one and will end up lovely companion.

Places like Soi Dog Foundation in Phuket just one example.

Equivalent exists throughout Thailand.

Do you have lots of tattoos and a small todger ¯\_()_/¯

No that's me but with no tattoos.

You sound like you may be a first-time dog owner. Have you owned dogs before?

A dog is a long-term commitment. Most dogs live between 10 and 15 years. That's longer than many marriages last. Are you established well enough to make that kind of commitment?

Do you have time every day to walk the dog several times? Is there a safe place to walk the dog?

Do you have a garden where the dog can stay during the day so that it is not in the house all the time?

Is there someone else who can look after the dog if you need to be away for a while? Would that person be capable of taking care of a high-energy dog like a pitbull?

Dogs are wonderful creatures and deserve to have a good owner and a good life.

Save money and your mental health and be kind to animals and get yourself a black tide dog female rich hair mixed. It will kill anything even a Pitbull

I currently reside in Thailand and have made the decision to get a dog, specifically a Pitbull (doesn't have to be purebred). However, I’m unsure about where to begin my search.

I hope not serious 😡

If you are serious about having a dog maybe you could consider taking in a stray.

Where do you live

City country

Pit bulls really shouldn't get a bad reputation because of how their owners train them.

Pitbulls have a "bad reputation" for good reason!  They are unpredictable and for this reason alone, they are banned completely in some countries.

There are a few stories on this forum where pitbulls have been responsible for killing their owner, even children and babies, who claimed vehemently, their dog wouldn't hurt a fly!!

No need to buy one.

I am happy to rent out my ex-wife, she will protect any valuables you may have, even from you

I've lived in Thailand my entire life, being born in Bangkok.

I don't know where to buy a dog----- but anyway my other problem is about how much Sin Sot I should pay................

. ... But I'll ask about that one latter.....:w00t:

Get a pitcow😄

Nothing wrong with pitbulls only the owners. Pitbull always get bad reviews because inexperienced owners.

The owner can make a very large difference, but it is still a breed still being bred as a fighting dog, and anyway how do you stop Pitbulls being bought by inexperienced/incompetent owners?

Friend had a Staffordshire Bull terrier bitch - lovely dog. Just stood guard over his kids all day. They were bred for fighting up until the 1930's, and probably have had much of that bred out of them, but one day I saw it with it's jaws clamped on a stick held up high and saw how it started rippling its body in a way that would have resulted in a bite sized chunk of flesh being pulled out if it had hold of a another dog/human.

You are one of those.

They are legal in USA. No surprise there.

Illegal in so many other countries.

For a good reason.

My guess is troll thread.

You want a pit bull then easy to find.

Pit Bulls are illegal in 15 states and more will follow, even California does not allow these killers to be owned

Not sure where you heard that but I know of at least 5 friends in different states who own them I know some cities do.............https://www.dogster.com/dog-breeds/are-pit-bulls-banned-in-the-us.

Yes, it's certain cities in some states which have ordinances, but no state completely bans them from what I can see. It might come if enough people back it, but in the US that's hard to do.

Seems they can't make up their minds, maybe Trump could help?

1) I had a dog when I was around but that probably doesn't really count

2) Yes

3) More than enough time

3b) I live in a gated community so I think the dog will be safe

4) Yes

5) My neighbors happens to also be my friend so I could ask them to take of the dog when I'm away

5b) They also have a dog so I would assume they're capable

Very good.

Just wanted to make sure you were in a good position to be a dog owner. Not everyone thinks of these things in advance.

With respect to 5b), you'll possibly have the issue of the two dogs getting along.

Good luck.

The OP doesn't seem capable of delving that deeply into topics.

Exactly. No need to bring sand to the beach.

Many  wonderful animals here to adopt including puppies and kittens.

OK, thanks. The issue is that a lot of people in Thai and Farang get dogs and have them cooped up.

If you are on a beach, I would be looking at a more friendly dog. A pit bull is not what I would consider man's best friend, and if I was your neighbour, I would have reservations about being involved with a dog with their attitude.

I think going to the local pound you would be able to find man's best friend.  They can also tell you about the dog's temperment

No dog is ever vicious or attacks a living soul.......until it does......then the excuse...."oh well he's never tried to kill anyone before" simply doesn't wash.

We keep our dog on a lead whenever there are other people about....even at home he goes on a lead if someone visits.

The issue for pitbulls is they were literally bred for fighting.

That means significantly stronger jaw muscles, so if they bite...

Like most dogs, it's down to the owner more than the dog... But those jaw muscles mean it's a lot more serious with a pit bull.

I once had a dog who we rescued. And very occasionally, around other dogs, it would suddenly just have an immediate change of character and attack. Which is why we kept it on a lead if we saw other dogs around when walking it. If you didn't witness it, you wouldn't believe it if you saw the dog the rest of the time. (It was a Shih Tzu, so even the other people walking their, usually significantly larger, dogs, would mostly just laugh... They wouldn't laugh if it was a Pit Bull. They'd call the police on you...)
