A drunken tourist attacked three Thai app-based motorcycle taxi riders in Phuket, allegedly because he wanted a lift to a massage parlour. However, the riders declined to serve him, citing that they were fully booked.

Several news agencies shared a video of the foreign man attacking three Thai men on a footpath yesterday, 5 January. In the video, the foreigner, wearing black shorts and a white T-shirt, was seen shouting and hitting each Thai man.

The foreign man continued his rampage, ignoring women and children who walked past. The three men attempted to restrain him but they were unable to match his strength.

One of the victims, Arthit, told ThaiRath in an interview that he and his two friends parked their motorcycles at the scene while waiting for their passengers. The foreigner approached from Karon Beach, making loud noises that Arthit could not understand.

The foreign man then approached Arthit to request a ride to a massage parlour. However, Arthit and his friends refused to serve him because they were all fully booked.

The refusal angered the foreign man, who then strangled Arthit’s friend.

Drug use suspected

The friend initially thought the foreigner was playing a prank but he soon realised the attack was serious. The foreigner strangled him tightly, forcing Arthit and another friend to intervene. They attempted to free their friend from the foreign man’s grip but were unsuccessful.

During the altercation, Arthit was struck in the nose by the foreigner’s elbow, while his two friends were punched in the mouth. The foreign man eventually left the scene, leaving the three Thai men injured. They later reported the incident to Karon Police Station after completing their passenger drop-offs.

Arthit stated that the police treated them unfairly. Officers fined the foreign man only 500 baht and released him. The foreigner left 5,000 baht in compensation for Arthit and his friends.

Arthit said that neither he nor his friends had the opportunity to discuss the incident with the foreign attacker and felt that both the fine and the compensation were insufficient.

Many netizens agreed with Arthit’s remarks, pointing out that Thai suspects often face higher fines and compensation demands, and alleging that Thai police appeared biased towards foreigners. Karon Police Station officers have not yet issued any clarification on the matter.

Arthit added that he believed the foreign mam was not drunk from alcohol but from drugs because he could not smell alcohol from him.

Absolute nutter ayhole of a foreigner.

After showing so much aggression when drunk, with apparently very little to 'trigger him'  this guy is clearly unhinged.

I'm not usually of the 'lock-him up and & deport him' brigade, but in this case such action seems wholly fitting.

But that is normal for a minor altercation according to the law.

Just another crazy farang look asian to me,why attack moto bike taxis  because they said no.

It's obvious where he is from, no need to make excuses for the chosen

Of course it is not sufficient. It was with a foreigner which means automatically larger amounts paid out. Netizens would say the same. If it was a Thai man doing it. They would have settled for a thousand and been happy.

One has to wonder if everything being said is true. A foreigner doing something like this for no reason makes you wonder.

It's quite unusual for a group of Thais to not be able to subdue a farang.  I'm surprised that another 6-7 Somchai's didn't join in for a good ol farang bashing.

This is exactly why more Thais are being turned off foreigners. It's now all too common. Drunken low life louts causing mayhem .

But then the powers that be did encourage this scum.

Just a misunderstanding, he only wanted to massage them. 😋

He's fortunate they didn't ratpack him and beat him into a coma, in typical fashion.

The attitude of these idiot foreigners bring with them wnen they travel to an overseas country is  because of a breakdown in society in western countries of respect for the law and order. In Australia crime is out of control in most states particularly  juveniles but not limited to them. These kids as young as 10 are running rampant breaking into houses, stealing cars and ramming police cars and other cars on the road and  committing armed robberies and carjackings .Their parents cannot control them and they don't attend school and just do whatever they want because the judical system is so weak. So when they go overses they think that that is normal accepted behaviour but come unstuck when thry go to a country with a stricter policy on law and order.

Not much Asian?

Yet another Russian POS throw him out after giving him a good beating

We need to understand that Thai's view fighting as a part of their culture.  Happens in a lot of schools or after school away from the building.

They view fighting as a less severe crime as than other countries.

They even have a visa for Muay Thai.

I believe we view fighting differently, even uncivilized but we need to accept and understand Thai culture and how to interact to avoid major confrontation and understand the risks and results if we don't.

One guy was doing the right thing, just run away from the big guy, he will get tired or bored and move on hopefully.

The boot on the other foot. of the motor cycle taxi scum.:giggle:

Who f-ing cares.

TIT.

I figured he wasn’t British before I watched the video and heard his accent. Still can’t place it, but if he was a Brit, it would have probably been in the headline.  I figured he wasn’t Aussie or a fellow Yank also.

Yeah, tourist idiots from all over pull this despicable behavior.  Yeah maybe he was provoked or pushed too far too many times before he snapped. Not unheard of  However this violent tourist behavior stuff has noticeably increased.  Especially in Phuket and Pattaya where the Russians prefer to be.

I have to ask the forum, do you feel that if this somehow happened to be a Brit, the police and media would be much more likely to reveal the nationality?  I’m not British, but they seem to get shamed whereas others don’t.  Maybe I’m off.

It seems like these tourists that use unhinged violence against locals would be identified quicker than other fools doing stupid antics. Your thoughts?

This Guy looks like a joker to me... with anger management......the bigger joke is 500 bahts fine.....for aggression and Nuisance........They can't differenciate between fine and lockup first...or both....🤔....There must be rules somewhere in every country or it's hidden under the carpet...

They said he was Arab. That's what I heard in his voice too.

Gawd, glad I live in safe Pattaya, amongst all the well-behaved tourists.

What happened to the 5,000 baht police fee, oops,  I meant the translation fee? Silly me they must have waived the translation fee due to the foreigner's fluency in Thai. No way , he paid only 5,500 baht in total! Lucky for  him he was able to pay his way out. Unlucky for us who may run into him when he is is one of his moods. I doubt he has learnt anything from this.
