On the evening of 8 January at approximately 23:00, Police Lieutenant Arthit Saenpanya, an investigator with Na Jomtien Police Station in Sattahip District, Chonburi, responded to a report of a foreign tourist found dead by suspected suicide. The incident occurred at an apartment in the Na Jomtien area. Rescue personnel from the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation accompanied the officer to the scene.

On the second floor of the apartment, authorities discovered the body of Mr Batsevichus Aleksandr, a 39-year-old Russian national. He was found naked, with an orange nylon rope tied around his neck and attached to a wardrobe door handle. Officials estimate he had been deceased for 8-10 hours. No signs of physical assault, struggle, or ransacking were found in the room.

According to initial reports, the deceased's friend had grown concerned after being unable to contact him. Upon receiving no response after repeated calls outside the room, the friend used a spare key to gain access and was shocked to find Mr Aleksandr's body. Emergency services were immediately notified.

Lieutenant Arthit conducted a thorough examination of the scene and preliminarily concluded the incident to be a suicide. The motive for the act remains under investigation. The deceased's body has been sent to the Police General Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine for a detailed autopsy.

Police have also contacted the Russian Embassy to inform the victim's family and assist in further proceedings.
