Revenue Department boss calls on tax residents in Thailand to file 2024 returns by March 31
My understanding is that they can see total remittances. I do well understand your point though. I would never have your confidence about this though as said at a later date I will check this issue with a Thai tax lawyer who was recommended to me. -

Biden's Last Stand: The Twilight Moves of a Defiant President
Twilight Moves of a Defiant President Who writes this crap? Angry, bitter and thoroughly confused man. He's not even especially old. My mother is 94 and I have two friends that have mothers that are the same age and their faculties are 100%. Biden should be doing backflips as his crime syndicate family is not going to prison. Additionally they will keep hundreds of millions of dollars. -

Section 39 application
I hope this is the appropriate forum to post as it has to do with retirement. Recently I retired from 9,5 years of working for a BOI company. It was difficult but I got immigration to change my reason for stay from Work to Retirement with a Non-B visa. I waited 3 weeks as suggested by my HR for the data to get into the system before I went to SS office to apply for the section 39 benefits. I went with a Thai friend to the new SS office in Ayutthaya, filled out 2 forms and went to counter. First was told I needed to be married. After some discussion they said OK but needed proof of permanent residency. I whipped out the documents used for my Extension of Stay, New 1 year lease, Blue book copy and signed my landlord and his ID card. They said no, they needed my name in a Yellow house book. I contacted my landlord first, he is looking into it. But from what I hear it is up to the local ampere office if they want to give or not. Most say very difficult to get. So my question and I hope you great folks can help. Does anyone know of a SS office that doesn't require the house book? Any way to buy your way onto a house book? All suggestions are welcome. I really don't want to buy a condo to get my benefits. Thanks in advance all, Jeff -

Nong Khai man walks 500km barefoot after family dispute
Photo courtesy of KhaoSod By Puntid Tantivangphaisal A 62 year old man was reportedly forced out of his Nong Khai home by his wife and stepson, prompting him to walk barefoot over 500 kilometres to return to his hometown. A passerby found him and provided a lift, eventually taking him to a hospital. Police Colonel Ratapolchai Pensongkram from Chaiwan district, Udon Thani province, received a call from Chaiwan Hospital yesterday, January 9. Nurses informed him about an elderly man who had walked barefoot from Satuek district, Buriram province, aiming to reach his home in Phon Phisai district, Nong Khai province. The nurses were concerned as his feet were swollen from the long journey and provided medication to reduce inflammation. They subsequently contacted journalists to investigate further, revealing the man’s identity as Phon. Phon explained that he had lived with his wife in Satuek district for over 13 years. However, in mid-December last year, his wife’s son moved in from Bangkok. This led to a disagreement, resulting in Phon being asked to leave the house. When he confronted his wife, she sided with her son, leaving Phon feeling deeply hurt. On December 28, he left without any belongings or money, relying on police stations for shelter and temples for food. His journey was made more difficult by a previous leg injury from a car accident in his youth. Eventually, a local driving a sugarcane truck offered him a ride to Chaiwan district, where he was taken to the hospital by the police. Through tears, Phon recounted that he had worked as a general labourer and welder, giving all his earnings to his wife. However, once her son arrived, he felt insignificant and was forced to leave. He expressed that after 13 years, he felt his love was shattered. Following a heated argument with his wife on the night of December 27, Phon decided to return to his hometown in Phon Phisai district. With no clothes or money, he has been wandering for 13 days, limping and crying along the way. He intends to reunite with his grandson and has resolved to become a monk upon reaching his destination, reported KhaoSod. Source: The Thaiger -- 2025-01-10 -

What could cause BTU of a/c difference?
So that's my dilemma: I think that 15,000 BTU would be ideal for me, but TCL doesn't have a unit of that capacity. They go from 12,000 right up to 18,000, without a 15,000 BTU unit in between. So should I go with an 18,000 BTU TCL, or a 15,000 BTU of a different brand? And if the latter, which brand is a good second choice? I mean, are the Japanese and Korean brands really inferior to the TCL? -

Aseannow is all about trump and Europe, not much about Thailand
This isn't news and that's the problem - it's precisely what is posted. It absolutely should be only Thai news and far more serious. Must be a dozen serious Thai news sources. It's hilarious - Trump wins by 3M votes, electoral landslide, sweep ALL battleground states and yet he is still insulted, mocked and maligned on this forum hourly. I don't support shutting down any speech, but this forum is laughable in it's machinations. There is this ridiculous negative Trump narrative fostered by the butthurt which is patently false. Until this board reflects not only us attitudes, but world attitudes it will sink further into the abyss. People are exhausted of the covid, Soros, DEI, lawfare, dishonest, corrupt, free shlt army agenda. It's done. They lost. You might not know a single int'l Trump supporter, but half the expats I know and meet are pro Trump. EU is lurching right. Canada just dumped Trudeau. Argentina, Mexico. The board is dominated by very woke FSA liberals. They neither reflect sentiments of US and many other countries vis a vis choice of PM, parliament It's simple.. if the tribe continues to get posted people will continue to leave. I understand the board's need for members and clicks, but the members living outside of Thailand really add nothing to The forum. I have absolutely no doubt that during the dark days of covid and during the DEI debacle there were numerous members and posters that had little or nothing to do with Thailand. Within reason, everything on a Thai forum should be about Thailand. Simples The next 4 years are going to be an extremely exciting time to be alive and plugged into this world. Embrace the future if you're up for it. If not - move to Issarn and enjoy a bucolic life -

Revenue Department boss calls on tax residents in Thailand to file 2024 returns by March 31
Actually, if you decide your IRA remittance is not assessable income, then, if you file a Thai tax return -- there's nothing on your Thai tax return to indicate your IRA income. What, exactly, would come into TRD's focus to warrant an audit? No, my argument, I'm sure, would be appreciated in any audit -- and worst case -- you then pay the tax owed, plus interest. But, this revisits the argument -- why even declare it, and pay tax on it -- when the chance that it will be identified for an audit is almost zip?
