As the day draws closer to me picking up my new car, hopefully if all goes well will be by the end of this month.

I wanted to ask for advice from people that have bought a new car in Thailand.

What do I need to check and make sure? How do I make sure I am not getting ripped off or basically what should I be checking?

I have decided on the Atto 3 Extended 2024 version - I am not sure whether to pick White or Black - I am currently thinking Black because the interior is darker and I have kids but is one better than the other? Those are the 2 colours I have been offered.

I am buying on finance and I am waiting to get approval. So when I pick up the car what should I make sure I do, check, etc?

Thank you for all your help!

My advice: make sure you dont have space issues and you are comfortable. Mine: I hate it badly now.

A bit more of my rant on this car:

The mirrors SUX Badly! the left mirror can't be turned out far enough, so if you are a bigger person you will be seeing the tail of your car in half the mirror. for smaller people, no problem!

because I'm big and have long arms I have move the seat all the way to the back, while the side mirror maximum position doesn't let me see much. It is quite dangerous as well, so I dont drive that piece of crap anymore....

Anyone have this issue?

Thanks, but this is not helpful at all. I have already decided to buy the car.

I have the Green Atto 3 for 2 years and I changed the SIM Card from Simtel to a better one. Because the Simtel SIM card only provides 2GB of data per month. The drawbacks seems to be that the Mobile App for the car wont work if you change the sim card. I cant make it work and I can't even find the original sim card 😄

Does anyone here uses the mobile app for the BYD?

I changed the rims and tires the first day I got the car to better ones, I dont trust the original Atlas tires.

Also, the other I saw a black BYD atto 3 made in Thailand, and I noticed the wheel and tires were different.

the black Atto3 had 215/55 R17 tires

mine had 215/50 R18 tires

I change to 225/60 R18 Michelin SUV+

my custom wheels are also wider so I can put 235 and 245 tires , the original wheel should not exceed 215 tires.

next tires will be "235/50 R18"

Yes the wheel design is different, that's the only difference he said. If I get the black colour which is the Thai version with the different wheel designs is this better worse or doesn't matter?

The China version has 18" wheel,  (215-55-R18)

The Thai version has 17" wheels, (215-60-R17)

18" definitely looks better, has more "premium" options for tires, it is heavier and tire profile will be more sporty, as well, range will suffer maybe 3-5%

17" more economical, tires options are more budget friendly, the wheel is lighter, can even upgrade to 225/60 R17 tires for more comfort ride.

My personal opinion: 17" is better for an EV car, to improve range.

Just giving you the heads up, never too late to change mind. if you are decided, go for it. apart from the things I shared, it's a good car and quite efficient, just isn't a good fit for me.

edit: I got now the correct tire sizes

According to Autolifethailand

Thai version has 18" wheel

The changes in the Atto3 Extended Range (Thai assembly) are as follows:

Change 18-inch alloy wheels, new design

Exterior body color available in 2 colors: Frost White / Quantum Black

Inside the cabin, two-tone colors: Dark Blue – Black

And wheel size on the Premium and extended is 18" only Dynamic is 17"

Okay, that's strange, I swear I saw just today a black BYD with 17" wheel having the BYD logo, so it wasn't custom wheel, unless taken from a BYD Dolphin?

it had Atlas 215/60-R17 tires

Btw, the website you share says "235/50 R18", Maybe that is optional if you pay more?
