Crime Decomposed Body Found in Nakhon Si Thammarat Evokes Memories of Past Crime
Photo via Facebook/ นครปักษ์ใต้ In Nakhon Si Thammarat's Tha Rue sub-district, residents were shocked by the grim discovery of a man's decomposed body in a palm plantation. The unsettling find occurred on June 19, evoking memories of a similar unsolved case from two years ago. Prominent from a foul odour, locals searched the area, leading to the body concealed beneath leaves in a canal. The man, clad in a dark blue T-shirt and shorts, had suffered extensive decomposition, rendering facial identification impossible. His hands were handcuffed, and his legs bound with a white cloth, suggesting he had been deceased for at least two weeks. Authorities from Chamao Police Station, accompanied by medical personnel from Maharaj Hospital, arrived promptly to examine the scene. Initial police assessments suggest the victim was murdered elsewhere before being dumped in the remote plantation, notorious for its difficult access and infrequent use by locals. The incident recalls a similar unsolved case from two years ago in the same area. A Thai man was found shot and abandoned, his hands similarly cuffed. No suspects were apprehended in that case either. The gruesome discovery has heightened concerns in the community, and police are appealing for any information that might shed light on the victim's identity or the circumstances surrounding his death. The investigation is ongoing as officers work to determine links between the cases and uncover those responsible. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-06-20 -

international driving permits can no longer be used as proof for obtaining a driver’s licens
Used to be show a foreign license and or a IDP no written test NOw The Department of Land Transport has drafted new regulations stating that international driving permits can no longer be used as proof for obtaining a temporary driver’s license. Foreign nationals will now be required to pass a written test to qualify for the license. Temporary driver’s license: Applicants cannot use an international driving permit as evidence for obtaining a temporary driver’s license. Foreign nationals seeking temporary licenses: If a foreign applicant uses a valid foreign driver’s license for the same vehicle type, they will still be required to take the written test (previously exempted from the written and driving tests). The license will remain valid for two years, as before. The use of a foreign-issued driver’s license, which is still valid, or an international driving permit under agreements to which Thailand is a party, will no longer be accepted as evidence for obtaining a personal driver’s license. The validity of the personal driver’s license has been extended from two years to five years. This applies to cases where the applicant has previously held a temporary personal driver’s license that has expired. https://www.nationthailand.com/blogs/news/general/40051501 -

Analysis Thailand in Trouble: Expats Exit as Vietnam Steals the Show
Of course. You have to experience India to know what it's all about, it's truly one of the most unique countries in the world, and it's not a place for easy travel nor easy living. I lived and worked there for 18 months in New Delhi. I would much rather have preferred Mumbai (Bombay), which I think is a fantastic city. Delhi is quite dull. It was a great experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I would go back for another visit in a nanosecond, and we are planning a visit next year. But I would never choose to live in India. There are so many reasons why so few expats choose India for retirement. -

Accident CCTV Captures Moment Driver Runs Over Drunk Swedish Tourist’s Head Outside Pattaya Bar
On a serious note, can members imagine if it was them where the Swedish guy was, but bending down to tie a shoe lace, or pick up the 10 baht coin they just dropped for the baht bus, or maybe even standing there on their phone, this Thai driver probably would have hit you as well.
