A crash occurred in the early hours of the morning of January 11, when a motorcycle collided head-on with a pickup truck on Sukhumvit Road and the entrance to Soi Nong Ket Yai, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. The incident, reported to the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Rescue Centre at 05:05, left a young motorcyclist fatally injured.

Emergency responders, police from Bang Lamung Police Station, and rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Pattaya quickly arrived at the scene. They found a Ford Ranger pickup truck, orange in colour and registered with Chonburi licence plate. The vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Mr. Chairat Panpitanusorn, sustained significant front-end damage.

Nearby, a severely damaged black Honda Wave 125i motorcycle, bearing the licence plate number from Chonburi, lay in the middle of the road. The motorcyclist, identified as Mr. Niwet Inpitak, 26, was discovered critically injured. Rescue workers attempted CPR but were unable to save him. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Mr. Chairat told the police that he had been driving along Sukhumvit Road when the motorcyclist, travelling in the opposite direction, abruptly turned into the Soi in front of him. Despite his efforts to brake, the collision was unavoidable. Following the crash, Mr. Chairat immediately notified emergency services.

Police investigator Pol. Lt. Pisarn Hongphakaew of Bang Lamung Police Station documented the scene and announced plans to review CCTV footage to determine the cause of the accident. This will ensure a fair resolution for all parties involved.

Mr. Niwet’s body was transported to Bang Lamung Hospital, where it will be held until his family provides documentation to claim it.
