A crash on January 13, claimed the life of a 48-year-old woman, identified as Mrs. Jitladda, in the Mai Riang subdistrict, Chawang district. The incident occurred when she attempted to overtake an 18-wheeler on her motorcycle but lost control and was crushed under its wheels.

The collision, reported at around 07:30, involved Mrs. Jitladda returning home from tapping rubber. According to police chief Pol Col Phadungphong Duksukkhaew of Mai Riang Police Station, the victim’s motorcycle collided with the 18-wheeler while passing between it and a 10-wheeler lorry spraying water to clean the road. It is believed that the wet road caused her motorbike to slip, leading to her fatal fall beneath the truck.

CCTV footage from a nearby residence captured the incident in detail. The footage shows Mrs. Jitladda’s motorcycle attempting to manoeuvre between the two large vehicles before the crash. The impact left her lower body severely crushed, resulting in immediate death. Her motorcycle was also destroyed in the process.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, who remained at the scene, surrendered to the police and provided a statement. He explained that Mrs. Jitladda appeared to lose control while trying to overtake his vehicle.

Police have seized the CCTV footage as evidence and are questioning the truck driver as part of their investigation.

Could the uncensored video be shown to every teenager in Thailand as a start to showing them the impact of stupid driving?  Might start the process of reducing such stupidity?  Even if 1 new driver gets 1% more sensible...

We had uncensored photos shown to us by the UK police as part of a basic motorcycling class at school when I was there.  Pretty graphic.  The copper who took the class was spouting on about being defensive and careful, saying we'd likely die whilst the car had a small dent.  It had an effect on most of us.

What strikes me about this country is that it is full of these kinds of 18-wheeler trucks, it seems they use these vehicles to go ut, 24 hours a day they race past my house, in the process illegally with ridiculous rubber flaps.

See this every day here near me, it is totally illegal to uses the center line to pass between vehicles travelling in different directions. Motorcycles must stay to the left at all times, unless passing, but not by using the center line to do so. She killed herself by not following the laws/rules/regulations that she should have known, if she even had a motorcycle license to begin with. This is literally the dumbest thing any motorcycle rider could ever do, and it happens every day here, you don't have to wonder why motorcycle deaths are so high here in Thailand after watching this demonstration of stupidity.

...such senselessness trying to squeeze through between two trucks with a total absense of thought towards her own safety - what a horrific way to go, but really 100% self inflicted.

I could show you daily videos from the canal road over near me where every motorcycle is travelling down the center divider line, and even when entering intersections where no passing is even allowed, not to mention completely insane to do so.

Careful... you'll get the forums 'only' authority on road safety telling that you are racist, bias and have no idea how road safety works because you are drawing conclusions from observations not woke text books... :whistling:
