So you said the Thai police sell to foreigners then turn them in and split the money 50-50.
So how do they benefit from him being arrested by police in Manchester?
4 Things to ponder.
1) Looks Arab
2) 1788, Britain began transporting convicts to Australia as a penal colony.
3) Australians must be proud of their heritage.
4) His girlfriend must be really bright.
I don't care about all of this BS on which you, and others are relying. Eg. assessabe, non assessagle, pre 2024 savings, blah blah, blah.
In my opinion, the Thai's won't care about the difference, so I decided to minimize the equation in preparation.
Yes, they will probably even be able to negotiate the amount. It's laughable, but hey, I'll have a Certificate of Clearance, and sleep well.
Then, look at AN at all those stressing, some, if not all, who may become illegal after the 31st March.
They want your money. Simple as that. Like so many other things here, refuse to give them the money and face the consequences.
Totally agree. A handful of cases, way over-publicized. As you said, 35 million tourists, the vast majority acting normally. No different than tourists places all over the world attracting very large numbers. Much ado about nothing.
"Taxing foreigners" who don't owe Thailand any money accomplishes two things: The expense Thailand incurs when, 1) they have to fund a new bureaucracy to seek, find, and force the foreigners who don't owe them money to file tax returns, and 2) when the find them and force them to file tax returns, the foreigner will simple collect all the withholding taxes Thailand has collected over the years on their Thai bank deposits.
Trust me - if Thailand goes that route, it will be an "own goal." And it will cost them more money than they make in return.
