Has anyone used the Wise debit card in Thailand?

Work in Thai ATM's?

Charges?

Given that its not a Visa or Mastercard, have you been able to make purchases with it?

I am using the Wise card almost daily in Thailand mostly in 7 11, Big C or online shop Lazada. Have not used it for withdrawal though.

You probably already know, but if you don't, Wise will not issue a card if you opened your Wise account with a Thai address. I can't get one.

Use mine all the time across the counter and never had a problem. I don't use it at ATM's as there is a charge (I think 200B a time) and fairly low monthly limits.

Obviously you have to maintain a balance in Wise. It will debit your THB balance if you hold THB. Otherwise it will debit your home currency and convert to THB at their standard rate/fee structure.

Occasionally it may debit a third currency in your balances - I think it does a multiple cross rate comparison amongst the balances and if it concludes that you save 3 cents of your USD by converting GBP to THB instead, it will do so.  Kind of an arbitrage thing.

As one Lives as an Expat in Thailand One Must/Should have a Thai Address.

That's what I think anyway,Fair is Fair one lives Here Have a.    Address Here.🙏

One still can have Bank accounts in Thailand and in the home country with a Thai Address and Thai Phone number and Use an OTP for Banking.

My Wise card is most certainly a VISA card.  It works like any other card.  And works in an ATM with the same 220 baht fee as any other foreign card.

I was purely going on the photos on the Wise website where it has neither the Visa or Mastercard logos on it.  Apparently though, its available as either.

I believe you will find it is a Visa Debit card.  Not a Visa credit card.  There is a difference.

I know in Northern Ireland, when I went to rent a car, and passed my Wise Debit card, it was immediately passed back to me, with the comment, this is a DEBIT card , and a loud insistence (from a tired rental car company agent) that I needed to pass them a credit card.

I only have a Thai address and Thai phone number, which is my registered address & phone number for both my Thai and UK bank accounts. Not sure how this is relevant to the Wise debit card though.

If you have opened a Wise Account While you live in Thailand with a Thai Address You Can't gat a Wise Card .

Wise Doesn't  Issue Wise Card for Accounts Opened in Thailand with a Thai Address.

Maybe in the Future If We are Lucky .

Best ones are the digital Wise cards created in the app. Then whack it into your Apple Wallet and bob's your wife's lover. Can pretty much pay for anything with your phone in Thailand, just tap and go.

I know it's a debit card.  So what?  I was answering the OP.

My Wise card is a visa card.

I never used it at ATM since I have a Bangkok Bank debit card. Withdrawals with Wise would cost local fees.

I made several purchases with it but only online, like with Agoda.

I used it with AirBnb too. My Bangkok Bank debit card cannot work on AirBnb. Wise card does which is strange because I have several payments so it works as a credit card at least with AirBnb

To be accurate, it works like a debit card.  I use mine in stores, online, book flights, pay hotels.
