Perhaps I have missed this aspect in all these many posts. My girlfriend is a recognized “poor person” and is registered as such. All treatments at the hospital are free of charge for her and she can also travel free of charge on state buses. She also receives a monthly allowance for “poor people”. I have supported her with substantial amounts over the past year.

Does anyone know in the forum whether I can declare these amounts in my tax return and if so, under which item? Also is there a threashold?

The governments demand that foreigners pay tax is based on income-not based on expenditure.

There are a list of allowances.

Some of which include

A credit s allowed against taxation paid in your home country. This assumes that your home country qualifies

If you are over 65 years -then a credit is granted.

If you are married-similar.

I have never heard of a 'Poor persons ' official status.

Suspect that a large % of Thailand's population would qualify

Perhaps you could post a link to a government website detailing this concession.
