Ugandan Woman Fakes Seizure to Evade Immigration Check in Pattaya

Any of the foreign women you see on the beach late at night are probably on overstay. Would be easy for the immigration police to do a weekly check and get rid of them for good.

No I have no sympathy for her.

They found a Ugandan overstayer while cracking down on disturbing Indian tourists due to online demand?

Is this a kind of Collateral Damage, from her perspective?

Without those troublesome Indians, immigration cops might not have devoted that much energy for the beach patrol...

Thailand must be one of the few countries in the world where your experiences when visiting your local Immigration office depend on the mood of the IO you are dealing with.

As a expat staying here for nearly 2 decades, I strongly agree.

In my experience, the nastiest ones are in:

Mae Sai(Thai-Burmese)border check point.

As well as Chen Wattana(BKK).

There were always some bastar* in uniform whose joy of life is posing hostile to the foreigners.

Nice ones:

Mae Sot(another Thai-Burmese border) check point.

And Chiang Mai office has got mostly kind polite men and women in charge.

Would like to hear anyone else's experience...

I feel pity for this poor woman. 40 years old, no education, no job, no money, no future.. far from her home and culture. Possibly another victim of some prostitution network for years,

Thank you for additional info.

It reminded me of the publication read in 1990.

Titled "Children without hope".

Reading this kind of sad news, I feel How Lucky We(expats from the 1st world) Are.

Can stay on, in own favorite country with relative ease; without committing any immigration violation.

And able to enjoy the Positive Aspect of the host country.

To the people who are here as Migrant Workers(legal or illegal) from the poorer countries, daily scenery could be quite different...

Picture from responders.

A Ugandan woman attempted to evade an immigration check by feigning a seizure on Pattaya Beach after being stopped by officers late during the night of 7 February.

The incident occurred during an inspection by immigration officials following widespread online criticism of large groups of Indian tourists allegedly drinking alcohol, littering, and sleeping on the beach. The social media backlash had raised concerns about the impact on Pattaya’s reputation as a tourist destination.

During the routine document inspection, officers approached a suspicious individual, later identified as Miss Irene Nakyanzi, a 39-year-old Ugandan national. As soon as she was asked to provide identification, she fled on foot. After a brief chase, officers caught up with her, at which point she dramatically collapsed onto the sand, pretending to have a seizure, shocking onlookers.

Upon verifying her passport, authorities discovered that Nakyanzi had overstayed her visa by an astonishing 603 days, having remained in Thailand illegally since 15 June 2023. After medical treatment she was taken into custody and will face legal proceedings before being deported.
