SCB Branch Near Chaengwattana with Early Opening Hours

Will be going to CW for the first time for extension in the coming weeks and will need to get my bank statement from SCB Bank. I understand the CW branch has been closed for some time. Searching the threads, some recommend the BigC Branch, but when I search it says the opening time is now 11am. I have tried to scan Google Maps for other branches nearby and the best I could find was this branch (https://maps.app.goo.gl/S4WNgtw6TPjg7AMD9) which opens at 8:30am.

 

I saw a post which mentioned the branch at LakSi IT Square, which seems nearer. Many searches and Google does not give the operating hours (says 24 hours but that is obviously for the ATMs). Does anybody know when the LakSi IT Square branch opens? Many thanks.

Think you will find that the IT Mall Lak Si opens at 10.

Anyway back to your situation.

You can obtain "bank letter" few days prior to application.

CW want to see update on day of application+ activity.

Just a suggestion...,obtain bank letter day or two prior.

Make small deposit on day of application. Ask teller to photocopy that last page to add to your other bank book photocopies of bb.

 

Also why not book an appointment.

I use the SCB over on Bond Street in Pak Kret before I head off to the Nonthaburi Immigration, but it's right down the street from the Bangkok Immigration, it opens at 8:30am

Hi @DrJack54... Thanks for the informative reply. I understand well the part about getting the Bank Book copied after making a small deposit on the day of application. Should be a fast process. Also I should have added that both my wife and I are doing the THB800k method, which we have had deposited in Thailand for well over 12 months.

 

To clarify on the "bank letter", exactly what is it? I understand what a "bank statement" is since I have recently applied for credit cards which require a 6-month "bank statement", but what is the difference to the "bank letter"? Is there an example anybody can post of a "bank letter"? Does it have specific information that needs to be on the document to be accepted as a "bank letter"? Do I need both bank letter and bank statement, or just the bank letter?

 

And yes, I will make an appointment for sure. As I am going with my spouse, do I need separate appointments or just make one appointment for both of us?

The bank letter is an A4 page and it simply confirms that you are the owner of the account and the balance in the account on day of it's issue.

Both the 1. Bank Letter and 2. Bank Statement can be issue up to 7 days prior to day of application.

However many obtain it day or two prior to application..

Looking ahead be aware that for living ongoing in Thailand non Thai wife can piggyback on your Non O retirement extensions.

That would mean she does not require money in bank.

That a topic in itself.

Thanks @DrJack54... Many thanks for link pointing to the "bank letter" examples. There was one for SCB which I have printed out, so no confusion with the staff.

 

For the bank statement, will 6 months be sufficient? When I got my bank statements for credit card application, SCB had given me 6 months of statement for 100b.

 

I will be processing everything as Chaengwattana Immigration. Bank Letter + Bank Statement + Bank Passbook. Thanks!

Think that you mentioned this is your very first 12 month extension from a Non O.

For first extension immigration only want to see the 2 months prior to application to check the 800k seasoned for 2 months.

So a 6 month bank statement more than enough.

In fact some will suggest that your bank books alone with photocopies would be sufficient..

Perhaps poor choice of words.

CW immigration does not have SCB branch so the bank letter, bank statement, and deposit on day of application will be done outside of CW. 

Best to obtain bank letter and bank statement day or two prior and the update and deposit day of application.

Thanks again @DrJack54. Actually, as per a separate thread, I am trying to go from a extension based on work to extension based on retirement. My spouse is going from extension based on dependent to extension based on retirement. We are trying to do this without being forced to leave the country. We have done 9 extensions using Chamchuri, but it is our first time to experience Chaengwattana. Knocking on wood that we will be accepted with good preparation and good timing.

 

As per your advice, will get the bank letter and bank statement a couple days prior. The deposit on day of application will do at a nearby branch. Will time that prior to a set up appointment. Thanks again!

So what your wife has is based as dependent referred to a piggyback on your Extensions.

She must have entered Thailand with a Non O.

I can't see why immigration would not allow her to change to extension based on retirement (obviously over 50) 

Some posts in attached thread suggest advice from immigration good idea.

 

Did you consider her continue as a dependant?

Indeed @DrJack54, my wife did enter with Non-O originally and has extended since then for reason of dependent. I am of the same thinking that my wife should be allowed, however I am informed that this will all be "at the discretion of the Immigration Officer". So I am really hoping that there will be no problem for my wife to change her extension reason from dependent to retirement, even if they force me to exit the country to "reset" from my original Non-B. If we both leave, I just realized there will be nobody to watch the cat and will have to arrange pet hotel.

 

As for doing a piggyback, even though we will each have reason by retirement extensions, I am not fussed keeping the separate THB800k financial requirements for both of us. And heaven forbid something happens to me, my spouse would be under no pressure to attend to immigration during a stressful time.

 

Will be all prepped with paperwork so will give this a go in a couple weeks. Will report how it goes. Many thanks.

Please do as this question has come up previously albeit different variations.

 

If you hit a brick wall with immigration be aware that you can exit Thailand without reentry permit  then reenter visa exempt and both obtain Non O retirement at CW.

2 months later obtain 12 month extension. 

 

However that should not be required.

Recently CW have accepted an update of my SCB bank book a day before the day of my application for a retirement extension. This for info. only. No guarantee this will work for others.

That would be very handy for SCB folk. Perhaps others could confirm. Did you make a deposit also?

Have same issue with TTB bank as they also closed at CW. I updated my passbook on the day at TTB ATM in Sathorn at 6am then went to CW. I obtain the TTB letter day before. Not much around CW opens early banks mostly 10am- 11am. Booking 1pm apointment is goood idea. But apointments need booking about a month before and it is hard to find a time.

That's correct and for that reason alone I suggest anyone dealing with CW not to use bank that does not have a branch there.

The banks at CW open at 8.30am same as immigration itself.

 In my case a small withdrawal. CW have been accepting my day before updates for several years now. I should add that my Thai wife, who always accompanies me, appears to be good at chatting up the immigration officers. Always gets a laugh, and creates a friendly atmosphere. I only mention this as a possible reason for their forbearance.

My first ever extension I obtained bank letter day prior.

On day of application the io made my Thai partner go downstairs to make ATM withdrawal.
