Georgealbert Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Picture from responders. Firefighters battled through the night to contain a blaze at a well-known rubber smoking facility in Sichon District, with initial estimates placing the damage at over 5 million baht. Authorities suspect the fire was caused by excessive heat during the production process. The fire broke out early morning on 10 February, at the Chalong Namkhao Pattana Cooperative rubber smoking plant, located in Ban Namkhao, Moo 5, Chalong Subdistrict. This facility, a key processing centre for local rubber farmers, is known for producing high-quality smoked rubber sheets and had previously been visited by former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin during his tenure. Upon receiving the report, Supachai Chomrit, the President of Chalong Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, immediately alerted Sichon Police and coordinated efforts with neighbouring fire services, to combat the inferno. Despite firefighters’ best efforts, the large quantities of rubber undergoing the smoking process made extinguishing the flames particularly challenging. The fire raged for over 5 hours before being brought under control by dawn. Initial assessments indicate that both the stock of smoked rubber sheets and the plant’s infrastructure suffered extensive damage, with total losses estimated at over 5 million baht. While authorities suspect the fire resulted from high temperatures during the production process, forensic experts are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause. -- 2025-02-11 1
flyingtlger Posted February 10 Posted February 10 The smoke produced by burning rubber is extremely hazardous and toxic. I wonder if near by residents were evacuated? Probably not, after all, TIT.....
