The anti-American sentiment goes up proprtionally as the Baht drops in value. What always got me when I was living there was the retiree's that live there trashing the US and being very vocal about it. All the while spending their SS money from the US. I never really understood it. Especially since Thailand is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Hopefully this will be addressed in the US in the next 4 years.
I was in Kuala Lumpur last month and went into a market a 230 PM and was able to buy adult beverages. The cashier was a cute and friendly female who was wearing a hijab. The cashier told me I can buy adult beverages 24 hours a day. But in Thailand I would have to wait until 500PM. This is long overdue. I would suggest starting alochol sales at 1200 PM and ending at midnight. This would satisfy restaurants, stores and even bars.
Agree with you both, but it does IMHO underline the excessive cumbersomeness and awkwardness of the procedures to which we Brits are subject at passport renewal time, when compared to other Western nations. From what I can gather from various reports on here over the years, nationals of no other Western country are subject to similarly cumbersome and awkward passport renewal procedures which require the services of an agent (at a not insignificant cost of around 5,000 THB, by the way) in order to make reasonably tolerable.
