Father’s Heartbreak as His Two Children Drown in Tragic Incident

A father was left devastated after discovering the lifeless bodies of his 12-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter in a pond, following a frantic overnight search after they mysteriously disappeared.

 

The tragedy unfolded in Sai Noi district, Nonthaburi province, when police received reports of two children drowning near a pond adjacent to a road in Nong Phra Ngai subdistrict. Authorities, including forensic specialists and emergency responders, rushed to the scene at around 09:00 on 13 February.

 

Upon arrival, police found two pairs of children’s shoes, one green and one black, placed near the edge of the pond, which measured 10 by 15 metres and was approximately 3 metres deep.

 

The father, Narong 40, a construction worker, broke down in tears as he recounted how his son and daughter had been missing since the previous evening. The children, who usually lived with their grandmother, failed to return home on 12 February, prompting him to search for them all night.

 

At dawn, a local resident alerted him to the discovery of children’s shoes by the pond. Rushing to the scene, Narong dove into the water and found his daughter’s body submerged. Unable to continue searching due to the murky depths, he called emergency services for help.

 

A specialist diving unit from a local rescue foundation was deployed, and within 10 minutes, they recovered the body of his 12-year-old son, who had autism.

 

Narong, who had been raising his children alone after separating from their mother years ago, stated that neither child knew how to swim.

 

Authorities conducted an initial examination of the scene and documented evidence. The bodies of both children have been sent to the Institute of Forensic Science to determine the exact cause of death.

Raising his children alone??? Didn´t the news said they usually lived with their grandmother? Also, raising children without letting them know how to swim. Not a very good job.

If I remember correctly, the number one cause of child deaths in Thailand, reason why we started her in swimming classes at a very early age.

Doesn't take too many times in a lake or pond to teach children to respect and not fear water, so they don't panic, which causes most drownings. Children here are left with grandma's more than any other country, which means less supervision than a parent would offer. Usually left with grandma, meaning an older grandma that has less ability to care for young ones, means many things might happen which wouldn't with  parents, like staying out too late, driving scooters too young, going swimming unattended, drinking or smoking, etc.
