"Nomad Capitalist" suggests Americans abroad may be headed towards pariah status

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

You know, like Russians abroad are suffering now, whether they have any culpability for the behavior of their nation's dictator or not.

He suggests taking action to minimize the potential damage of that.

In the Russian example, Russians who got a second passport BEFORE 2022 are sitting pretty.

Most other Russians who have or want to flee Russia after that are struggling.

Unfortunately for Americans in Thailand, the vast majority aren't going to be eligible for permanent residence of citizenship in Thailand.

So as far as acting on the advice, for most that would mean another country with more realistic paths towards a second passport.

The question is why would americans want permanent resident status in thailand? The country has no moral compass. They deal with russia china and iran. Thailand will forgive any bad behavior by foreigners for the right price

You didn't watch the video and pretty have no understanding of the challenges Russian expats face abroad these days specifically because of Putin.

That's exactly what you are implying, and why would any American give up their citizenship, simply because they don't care for the 'elected' president, who is only going to be there 4 years.

Only reason to become a resident of another country, would be to enjoy any extra benefits, or avoid income taxes, is still produce high income.

Because I'm married to a Thai, I have a Thai son, I have a Thai extended family, I've lived here almost 18 years, and I plan to live out my days here until I die unless the Thai government decides to break up my family.

That's why.  Personally I'd rather have citizenship like every foreign female who is married to a Thai guy can obtain after 3 years of marriage.

It is more likely that American-owned business in many countries are going to suffer financially.

It is also possible that more US residents will be relocating overseas - a movement which certainly started after the November elections with some high profile Americans relocating to safer countries.

On the other hand, those overseas disciples of Trump and MAGA may be less inclined to wear their political caps and t-shirts in public.

Just see what is happening in Pai now, and during the early 2020 international reaction to overseas Chinese tourists "Chinese tourists not wanted" signs posted on businesses in many countries.

No need to give up U.S. citizenship to have a perm residency or second passport (if the other country allows dual).

Even right wing Americans who have migrated to Russia to be Putin propaganda puppets usually hold on to their U.S. passports even though Russia doesn't recognize dual.

They have failed to be brand ambassadors and can't even look a man in the eye. About time we stop watering the pansies.

Obnoxious willful ignorance if you don't know about the problems Russians have been having with traveling and getting new residences!

Why are you even posting on this topic if you know NOTHING about it?

Is this what happens to retired expats in Thailand? More specifically those who live in a small condo and no outside interests besides eating. But I suppose that's a topic for another thread. My kid has duel passports US and Thailand, but as for me I don't really care. I jump through a few hoops to stay here year after year.

I can't understand what idiot would give up US citizenship.

Only 2 come to mind, Snowden for exposing war crimes by USA military.

And Tara Reade fearing for her life for exposing Biden for sexually assaulting her, allegedly.

The Nomad Caitalist also suggests Americans should head to Uruguay where their money can buy citizenship in a short time.

Coincidently, wife was at a gathering of friends the other day, and Ruskie friend was in attendance, and shock, dismay, all was calm.

Go figure ... things posted on the internet, that are far from reality.  Who would have thought :coffee1:

So we now have Yanks, joining the ranks of Jews, Ruskies, and Chinese that can't leave their country for fear of harassment.

From my reading, fear of harassments of Yanks in the USA was more of an issue from special interest groups.

Seen actually videos of that, Rep being harassed in public, restaurants.  BLM rioter disrupting diners, and torching & looting business districts.

Haven't seen any of that toward tourist in other countries, toward Jews, Yanks, Ruskies or Chinese.

But if you say it's true, or some YT'er, then it must be  :coffee1:

Russia is a pariah state because it is lawless and invades its neighbors. The United States is withdrawing a small part of the billions it spend every year to help other countries. How is that the same? Were Americans pariahs during the Vietnam war? What about the second Gulf War?

The topic really is very narrow.

About visa treatment, freedom of travel treatment, banking treatment, freedom of money transfers treatment. etc.

Russian expats are being punished because of their government.

In much of the world.

The Nomad Capitalist suggests the Trump's actions (which you absurdly misrepresent) have the potential of biting Americans in similar ways.

He tells us Russians who were smart or lucky enough to take action before 2022 are in much better shape than later Russian expats or wannabes.

He's suggesting based on Trump's behavior, Americans might consider taking a lesson from those smarter or luckier Russians.

That's basically it. Not all this other stupid noise people are posting here that has nothing to do with the topic.

The OP doesnt need Trump to be a hated American, He is best illustrated by the hateful lies he spreads here

I would take anything No Mad Capitalist says with a big grain o' salt.

His company makes $$$ from relocations.

As far as Russians in Thailand. they have options here of course because Thailand is friendly to Russia.

But if you dug deeper you would know Russians have very few options of getting residency outside Russia option, and Thailand is crap for them as far as residency.

Most who have fled are here because they can stay awhile but they would much rather find a permanent port which will actually be residence secure such as western Europe, etc.

They can't even travel as tourists to western Europe, unless they got a visa pre 2022.

I refer to Russians because they are big pariahs NOW and so many millions of them have fled or want to.

Americans, you don't want to ever be in their situation or even half as bad as their situtation.
