We each have our own bank account for the O renewal.

If anything happen to one of us probate is a long & drawn out process, to get the the money from the bank even with a will (just thinking ahead.

Why not have separate bank accounts.

What is current status in Thailand.

For wife to piggyback on your extension she needs to obtain Non O from outside of Thailand.

Piggyback explained in this thread

CM immigration told me that my bank account could not be joint (was with my Thai wife and that I had to have a sole account only no joint.  Just saying, as I didn't argue as it made the FBAR much easier and quicker.

I think the OP is not talking about a Thai wife, but having a joint account with a western partner.

Immigration will not accept joint account for extensions marriage.

They MAY approve a joint account with double the financial requirements for extensions based on retirement (as per the OP)

Bottom line the OP would need to discuss with his immigration office.

One  can piggy back extension off of the other, only one 800k immigration account needed in that case.

I was told by CW immigration that piggybacking was only possible when  hubby is on retirement & I'm below 50. Otherwise it requires separate accounts & money. Not when both are at retirement level.

Not sure I follow.

If one person is on Non O extensions (retirement) then the non Thai spouse can piggyback on those extensions as a dependent.

Does not need to be under 50.

For the Non O (dependant) needs to enter Thailand on the Non O

I too assumed this was the case until CW immigration told me otherwise & we needed to import 2x 800.000 for 2 sep. Non-O retirement.
