A chemical leak at a cold storage facility in Samut Sakhon has left at least eight workers unconscious, while 24 others suffered symptoms such as dizziness and nausea. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the affected workers to Samut Sakhon Hospital for treatment.

At 20:20 on 14 February, reports emerged of a chemical leak at PC Tuna Siam Co., Ltd., located in Moo 4, Nadee Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Sakhon District. The leak involved carbon monoxide (CO), a chemical used in fish preservation, which escaped from a faulty valve in the company’s production line.

The affected workers, mostly Myanmar nationals, unknowingly inhaled the gas while working, causing them to experience severe dizziness, nausea, and, in some cases, unconsciousness.

Emergency teams quickly sealed the CO valve to stop the leak and evacuated the affected employees. Eight workers lost consciousness and were immediately taken to hospital, while 24 others reported mild symptoms and were monitored for further health complications.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the valve failure and assessing whether safety regulations were adequately followed.
