O2 Atom Life

Featured Replies

Hi,

Had several crashes after installing questionable software from the net, and have had to -re-install from scratch. Does anyone know of any software which can freeze the config and files system onto my Laptop, so if any <deleted>, I can re-load the image from XP ?

Realize some files in ROM, but the other stuff ?

Thx

Atom ? that is a HTC smartphone running windows mobile ? sprite backup is something you can use to back up your config under windows mobile

you could check threads on the aximsite forums concerning backing up various flavours of windows mobile.

Cheers. No, its not HTC. Just bought in thailand about a month ago, but the way, its Aquarium proof. Dropped it in the aquarium for about 4 to 5 seconds......... yanked it out, battery out (real panic) - dried it out, and not its working like a charm, maybe even better after the rinse and wash

Atom is from O2.

On my O2 (XDA IIs) there is a program called Xbackup. This will back up everything on your device to the memory card.

I can chose to do a full back-up (takes a while) or only data. I only do the full back-up every time I installed new software I definitely want to keep.

The data back-up I do once a week, sometimes longer depending on how much new and/or important data I put on the device.

The full back-up will save simply everything, including program settings, background, ringtone/volume etc...

Xback-up is in the rom, so after a hard reset/crash it is there to immediately restore your data...

On my HP Ipaq (6828) there was no back up program, there I installed Sprite back-up (buy-ware, 29.95 US$). Only annoying thing about sprite, is that it doesn't reside in the rom, so after a crash , you first need to manually re-install sprite, and only then you can restore your back-up. Would be annoying if you're on the road and don't have yoour PC/laptop with you...

Another thing convenient is the ability to restore everything after you've done a ROM upgrade with these programs!

I've never had a complete crash though, I mostly use it to keep the two O2's I have identical (back-up from one device, restore on the other and you have two identical machines!)

P.S. make sure the device is on external power (cradle or USB) when restoring from memory card! Not funny if you run out of juice during a restore.

Even more important when doing a rom upgrade, a failed rom upgrade will necessitate a visit to the manufacturer!!!!

P.P.S. mine is toilet resistant :D :D Luckily it went in before the toilet got used :o

LOL - fishing it out with a brown eyed mullet next to it would be a hard decision to make :o

I used to have the old O2, the big one, and it had the same thing. Did a search now for "Xback", "back" and it came up with nothing Grrrrrr
