Burmese Man Robbed Of 20,000 Baht By Fake Police Officers In Central Pattaya

Featured Replies

Police Lieutenant Colonel Santi from Pattaya Police Station was called to Soi Yumet in Central Pattaya near the Carrefour Shopping Center in the early hours of Tuesday Morning after a complaint had been received from a Burmese Construction Worker who had been approached by four men posing as Police Officers earlier in the night as he sat drinking in a Constructors Campsite in Soi Arunothai where he lives and works. The four men who were not in full Police Uniform claimed that they had been called to the Campsite to investigate reports of fighting at the location. The Four men decided to search the room of Mr. Geow and removed 20,000 Baht in cash.

They then took the man to Soi Yumet and told him to wait for their boss who wanted to speak with him in relation to a drugs case. The boss never appeared and the four men did not return prompting Mr. Geow to call the Police. A group of Cambodian workers at the site did mention that the same group of so-called Police Officers had visited the site a few days before and looked around but did not take anything on this occasion. A search for the four so-called Police Officers is now underway.
