Air is much cleaner, transport is much better and more affordable, traffic is almost non existent in the overall scheme of things. You can dispute that all you want but you would look pretty silly. If you think any of those are worse now than 30 years ago please give an example - it is going to be good!

Traffic is non-existent? If only. Traffic is as bad now as it ever was, thanks in no small measure to expansion of the ridiculous 20 mph limits (Park Lane, Finchley Road, Southbank ... you name it, all 20 mph). No wonder average bus speeds have gone down in recent years, blamed in part on an increase in road traffic congestion.

All from the horse's mouth (TfL), in case you're wondering, at https://content.tfl.gov.uk/travel-in-london-2024-annual-overview-acc.pdf

Try driving in and out of London at any time of day and I guarantee you it's a solid hour plus.

  • I have never liked Khan in his position as London Mayor. I never understood why he was given a knighthood he has done nothing to deserve the honour. Now his changed position on Trump confirms my opini

  • No surprise to see this little weasel backtracking.   A leapord doesn't change it's spots.    It's not up to Khan whether Trump is allowed in Britain anyway. Once on British soil,

  • Maybe he learned his lesson from last time - nobody really cares what he thinks, Trumps going to be in London whether he likes it or not - and he knows it. Also he's just a Mayor

I live in London voted for Khan and would do so again. I appreciate it's expensive but then owning your own house having a great pension and a free bus pass sugars any problems that it might cause. Not for everyone and when you move out there is no going back. The air is clean and ULEZ is part of that , Bangkok no thanks - couldn't wait to get away this time. Obviously mileage may vary.

And? Do you think you are the only person to own a house there? I am not old enough for a pension yet so can't get a free bus pass though, jeez you got me there fella.

Why is there no going back when you move out? I am back next year actually visiting a couple of Universities with my daughter, picking which one she would prefer to apply to but I much prefer the excellent lifestyle I have here in Phuket to consider moving back. Bangkok?

The poster claimed there was no traffic and transport is much cheaper than 30 years ago. Not true in my experience and also factually.

Talk to Londoners.

I speak English so that kind of limits the opportunity to do so.

Maybe I could try the outer suburbs where so many are fleeing to get away from the crime, congestion and ridiculous cost of living under Khan.

I have lived in London since 1974. I have never seen any violence. London public transport is great.

Funny how people who live there or visit regularly say the transport is great, but the anti-Khan brigade who don't live there and don't visit say it is screwed. Interesting.

Why on earth would Trump visit London? All the golfing is in Scotland.

So no violence in London seen by you in 50 years and great transport for 50 years too...🤣

Khan will be happy to hear that. Despite all the violent crime going on in London that has been increasing. I guess he had no need to improve transport as its always been great eh. Well for the last 50 years.

Depends largely where you live. I lived in Kentish town for years; my daughter lived in Peckham. Plenty of violence in both those areas both then and now. And try getting from Kentish Town to Peckham on public transport - at least an hour. Quicker to cycle.
