Why did Americans vote for Donald Trump?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

OK firstly this is not a baiting topic, I am from the UK and fairly neutral in this and do actually think some of his policies are on the right track regarding immigration and national sovereignty.

I know this post will be controversial and probably garner Trump haters and lovers, but I know there are a few fellow US members on AN and curious as to which way you voted (if you did) and why.  Also which way you would vote if you had seen his first few months in action?

From a totally neutral perspective I think he is a danger to world order, befriending cold war enemies and ostracising the countries that fought with the US through major wars.

Is he doing it to make America rich and powerful again or will it all come tumbling down on him, yes the US is a huge economy but if you combine the worlds economy against the US is he not just shooting himself in the foot?

I know I will get confused and sad emojis on this but I am curious.

If I was going to vote in the UK I would vote for Nigel Farage and the reform party, historically I have been conservative, and this is where I agree with Trumps policies and Nationalism to an extent, a single country should not be bound to take care of the rest of the world, my personal opinion is he is trying to achieve that but possibly going about it in the wrong way.

No, people actually really like Trump. You may not agree but that much is very clear to me. Americans just want a pro-American president who doesn't pander and acts tough.

  • Why did Americans vote Trump into office?  Couple of glaring reasons that Democrats still don't understand.   Immigration - DEMs had no intention of controlling the border and the results we

Who cares, your country looks like Pakistan with a Stasi police force locking people up for Facebook posts.

Trump won by not being Harris.

"None of the above" would have won by a landslide.

Trump pissed off all the right people. We'll get to keep our tax cuts now too. That's good enough for me.

Definitely get this point of view chaps and heart of hearts thinks the UK needs a bit of "Trumpism" but not too much 🤣

As a person I don't like Trump, never have. But, I'm glad it wasn't Harris. It's going to be very interesting having Trump around.

I didn't intend this as a pro or anti Trump topic but he is doing exactly what it said on the tin so surprised some countries are shocked with what is happening, if it was a world vote I doubt he would have scraped in by the skin of his teeth 🙂

Having them dig into the federal budget is very refreshing. The amount of corruption is astounding. No wonder the country is in never entering debt. It's patronage networks all the way down and the tax payer is getting totally screwed.

Americans were funding "India’s first transgender clinic". Are you f'ing kidding me? 😂

Makes no difference to most people. Never does.

If I was the president I would give all my friends big jobs also, and share the countries money with them sound similar to anything like his best buddy that Russian guy?

Although I guess Oligarch is probably not the correct term in this case, is there a word for a Technogarch? (If not I just made it up) :coffee1:

Trump gave jobs to Mike Tyson and Dana White?

I am not a lefty but I do have conspiracy theories 🙂 since his first inauguration all the people at his second inauguration had nearly a trillion dollars more in their pockets which is probably more in a couple of years than the gross national debt of most countries!!!!  Musk is by far the winner going from 12 to 380 billion, he could use that to pay for some of the federal cut backs he is making,

If you were on the front row of that inauguration shambles he must have at multiplied your already billions by 10, Elon Musk looked like a lost kid at a wedding at that farce:coffee1:

I thought he was Donald Duck and Kamala was Minnie Mouse. Biden was the chef on the Muppets.

Back to the serious topic of the conversation though :coffee1:
What do US people think about that Bernie Sanders guy? He's not a mega billionaire so could probably keep the technogarchs in line seems like a decent bloke, and not afraid of standing up in what he believes in and also doesn't fall down the senile Biden Reagan trap.
