Hi, I'm currently on visa exempt extension, I have my Thai family in Thailand (Thai wife and half Thai children) and got a new job. I can't get non immigrant O because I don't have yet 400 000 bahts.

There is two options to get the business visa, in Thailand at the immigration office, with a lot of document requirement from the employer and outside of Thailand, at the thai embassy, much less requirements.

My first question is, in the case I do it abroad, is there a country where it's easier to get it? I read that few people did it Singapore, any reason to go there?

Second question is regarding the evidence of qualification, is it mandatory? is a certificate enough? not a degree or diploma. Does it have to be translated, certified by embassy and legalized by the ministry of foreign affairs?

Are you asking about a teaching job?

I assume that you are aware the 400k for Non O marriage extension only needs to be in bank for 2 months prior to application for extension.

400k in bank of day of application for Non O

After final stamp in pp the funds can be used.

Have you asked immigration about 60 day extension to visit wife..

That would buy time to obtain the Non O.

Not the answers to my questions but thank you for your comment, I was already aware of this but thanks again to mention it. As I said, I don't have yet the 400k.

Another option would be Non O without proof of fund, I think they still deliver this in Savannaket but only for 3 months, single entry.

To answer to your question, no it's not a teaching job.

Non O single entry is available in nearby countries.

Savannakhet would perhaps not be best option.

As from start of 2025 only e-Visa is a available.

There is no online payments available.

It could take several days ++ to obtain the Non O marriage .

A better option is to obtain a Non O from visa exempt entry.

However that requires 400k in bank on day of application.

Single entry without proof of funds? I thought only Savannakhet was providing this

Think eVisa has changed that.

Check out the eVisa application thinking you will find this statement....

"Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 40,000 THB or having the current balance of 400,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings"

Most Thai embassies around the world have now shifted to evisa (including Savvanakhet)

Those days of border run are probably over. Info here -

E-Visa Application
Effective 1 January 2025, 10.00 hrs. (UTC+7), non-Thai nationals who are currently in Savannakhet Province, Khammouane Province, Saravanh Province, Champasak Province, Sekong Province, Attapeu Province and wish to apply for a visa to enter Thailand must submit their visa applications for all visa types through the e-Visa system at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/.

Certain nationals are eligible for visa exemption or visa on arrival. Check your eligibility at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ under the heading “Do I need a tourist visa?” and https://thailandevoa.vfsevisa.com/.

No In-Person Submission of Passport and Supporting Documents.

Processing Time
The processing time for visa applications through the e-Visa system will take approximately 10-15 working days (if all required documents are complete), from the date the visa fee is paid.

Approval Notification
If the e-Visa application is approved, a confirmation will be sent to the applicant’s registered email. A copy of this confirmation must be printed as proof of a visa and to be presented to airline staff at departure or Thai immigration officers upon arrival in Thailand.

so there is no way to get Non O immigrant, single or multiple entry, without 400k?

Then going back to my original questions:

"My first question is, in the case I do it abroad, is there a country where it's easier to get it? I read that few people did it Singapore, any reason to go there?

Second question is regarding the evidence of qualification, is it mandatory? is a certificate enough? not a degree or diploma. Does it have to be translated, certified by embassy and legalized by the ministry of foreign affairs?"

so this from the ministry of foreign affair, it means that will be the same requirement in every embassy. So there is no way around the 400k now even for single entry.

So I don't have other choices than business visa.

Going back to my original questions, I think there is no point going off topic now.

"My first question is, in the case I do it abroad, is there a country where it's easier to get it? I read that few people did it Singapore, any reason to go there?

If anyone has some answers to these questions it will be very appreciated. Again if it's possible to don't go on other topics it will be also appreciated.

What business or job would your business visa be based on? The exact requirements will obviously depend on that. Do you plan to work for a Thai company?
