I currently have a Samsung phone which I only use on the internet when linked to my home wi-fi. If I switch my AIS service to allow internet usage when away from home I understand that I will need to get a new number. Is there a way that if one of my  old contacts   tries to contact to me via the old number they will automatically be transferred to my new one. I am 83  y.o. so please be gentle with your replies.

Not sure why you have to get a new number, if you have an old number (unless of course you lost it from not topping up).

Anyway if you do get a new number, then the old number, and your contacts on that number are consigned to the dark depths (there is no automatic transference). You will need to inform your old contacts individually of your new number.

Hope that's gentle enough..😀

You mean you are keeping the same AIS SIM card in the phone (not changing it as @couchpotato said) and simply turning on internet access through AIS rather than home wifi. So all your phone numbers stay the same and everyone can call you on your existing number when making phone calls.

You don't need to get a new number, you have both wifi and mobile data on, when at home it will connect to wifi, when not at home it will use mobile data, what you may need is a mobile data package from AIS, call them.

If your phone has two sims then you could keep your existing sim but also buy a new 12 month data sim from Lazada Shopee etc

So you think I could  keep my  same number but get my AIS package  to include WI FI. Thank you.

If you had of given that detail in your OP, then we could have given you better/quicker answers.

But yes get Internet added to your SIM package and away you go..happy surfing.

Sorry if my 83 y.o. brain didn't meet your high standards.

Yes, probably best to talk to AIS. There will be many options so maybe go by the monthly price

If your AIS service is active and working, you simply need to turn Mobile Data on your phone to the ON position(and/or to activate it on the SIM if it has previously been turned off).

But that would use up any credit that you have. Better value to add a data package. An 'always on' data pack will prevent you from using up credit accidentally and allow you to communicate via Chat applications via text message.

You can get such a package for as little as 29 baht per month. This one is 33 baht.

That can act as a back stop.

If you need a faster connection whilst out and about, you can add a day pack on top of that for a few baht.

Alternatively, you can buy a 30 day duration pack(that auto-renews every month) containing 800MB of data, for 27 baht.

Apologies to OP for jumping on his thread.

Any idea what speed that is at as I currently use the 33 baht package mainly for Line use but occasionally checking something online - but is too slow as only I think 128kbps. I couldn't see any reference to speed with a quick look.

It's not speed capped. If you have 5G, it will be 5G.

If you look at the URL, it has 5G in it.

Yes I saw that thanks but what does that mean in reality if you are in an area without 5g?

Otherwise it looks like a no brainer to add that rather than my current package.

Ah just realised my daily driver is not 5g.........:annoyed: however still interested in an answer if you don't mind

4G or 4G+. There's no speed cap, so you'll get whatever speed you can get in your location with whatever phone you are using. Don't worry about that.

Why don't you just get a 12 month data sim if you have a spare slot, from Lazada/Shopee or like the one below monthly deal

Because I hardly use it and why spend more money then I need to?

27 baht x 12 equals 324 baht. Which 12 month SIM are you recommending as an alternative to that?

Up to you, maybe you'd use it more if you had better internet and more data
