Homeless People on Dongtan Beach
This may be perceived by some as being a bit callous, but I am fed up with the drunk homeless people that live on the footpath in the car park on Dongtan beach Jomtien. There are at least 30 of them that have set up home there. They have their sparse belongings piled up at the back of the beach and bring them up to the top where they sleep and drink all day. There is a woman who has a few dirty beach mats and tries to rent them out. They are always load and drunk, visible to the authorities, but they don't care. As a foreigner who lives here, I feel intimidated and if anything damages Thailand's reputation, it's this. -

Immigration Thai PM Tackles Overstaying Tourists with Visa-Free Scheme Revamp
The review will do nothing. Same same every year. I remember just before covid the population and local media had started to rise up against the mass tourism which was approaching 40 million, traffic gridlocked, appalling behaviour from tourists. There was talk of QUALITY TOURISM - it was the magic word. Hostels were going to be banned, tighter restrictions on visa, etc Then covid happened. So scarred by covid and no tourists, that Sretta (the previous PM) stimulated tourism unneccesarily by removing all restrictions to the whole world - when tourism was recovering everywhere. It was needless.
