British Tourist Fights for Life After Tragic Accident in Phuket
Agreed... There is talk (once again) of the 300 baht Tourist tax - it is these examples where some of that tax would be well spent... 'looking after tourists who've met with unfortunate circumstances'. Regarding the travel insurance: It seems unclear if he has insurance, but is unable to 'clarify' so due to his condition. This highlight the need to not only have travel or health care insurance, but also to carry around a card with you. Since Covid - most insurance companies have refused to issue a physical card - something I have fought with them over and always end of up getting one made. -

re entry with new passport?
I take it you don't use the auto gates, then do you need to do a TM 30 in 24 hours still or can you leave it for a while? What do you do first transferring the extension to the new passport or the TM 30 first? -

So I need phone service or is WiFi ok?
SIMs are not expensive in Thailand. Also, the OP should download LINE, but maybe he would have to be in the country where his SIM is based. So get a SIM here and then download LINE. It's used by people and businesses for phoning and messaging here. Maybe WhatsApp is similar, but LINE is the choice in Thailand. -

For anyone that doesn't want to read the article, the story is about a pregnant woman who wasn't feeling well and he offered to let her use the bed to lie down. What The woman said about it: "Luna described the moment in detail, adding it was the “most compassionate thing” that could have been done at the time as she was experiencing “pre-eclampsia symptoms,” a serious complication during pregnancy..."
