I've just read that

It appears that the pension can't be paid into an offshore bank account.  Is that actually correct? My Sterling bank account is in the Isle of Man.

I think they all have a UK sort code so you may be ok - you could always ask them?

Have you tried asking the UK government anything in the last few years? Kept hanging on the 'phone for ages, then cut off.  It's ludicrous.

Interesting question. I only have Thai bank accounts, but 5 more years to investigate this.

Just found this on the Gov.uk website:

Bank accounts your pension can be paid into

Your State Pension can be paid into:

  • a bank in the country you’re living in
  • a bank or building society in the UK

You can use:

  • an account in your name
  • a joint account
  • someone else’s account - if you have their permission and keep to the terms and conditions of the account

If you have an overseas account, you’ll need the:

  • international bank account number (IBAN
  • Business Identifier Code (BIC), previously Bank Identifier Code

You’ll be paid in local currency - the amount you get may change due to exchange rates.

I think your investigation is covered by the OP......" a bank in the country you’re living in"

2o mins minimum wait. then , like here, it depends on how lucky you get with the person who answers ! You can be sent from one dept - IPC. HMRC, DWP to another before finding yourself back where you started until you find someone experienced who actually understands the issue,

And you will, of course, be "serenaded" with irritating muzak while being given the pillar-to-post treatment!🤬
