Non Immigrant O Visa - need for onwards ticket?

Got my O visa approved, have a one way ticket for next month, but I find conflicting information online on whether I need an onward/return ticket or not?

 

Called Thai Airways and the person I talked to was about as useful as having a conversation with the wall.

Airline will not require proof of onward flight traveling with a visa. 

Obviously have print out of your e-Visa Non O

Thai immigration does not require the onward ticket for Non-O visas.

However, it is possible that some airlines may request it.

I would ask the airline just to be sure.

When have you read/heard of onward flight demanded by airline from anyone with a visa or reentry permit.

I did. If I had a "conversation with the wall", I would call again.

As @DrJack54 suggests, it should not happen. But I prefer a definitive answer from the airline.

Having been jacked up at the airport more than once (not for onward ticket), it is something I prefer to avoid.

Ok, thanks for your input, but I'm not sure a second call would help much. Plus it sounded pretty random what she was saying, so I wouldn't trust it unless I had it in writing.

Thanks. Would be great if there was any official information available online, but there does not seem to be.

 

When filling out my visa application I was asked to enter a departure date as the visa is a 90 day visa. This is a bit confusing and can lead one to believe there is need for a ticket out of Thailand. I opted for the single entry as I figure I can change this when I get my 1 year extension. The email with my visa does state "Airlines may ask for the details of this e-mail so they can carry out checks to allow you to board the plane", so that in a way indicates that an onward ticket is not needed.

This takes me back, got my visa in 2005. Then an email from TG after booking one way flight saying I would not be able to fly without an ongoing ticket. They ignored emails and phone calls so in the end went to their office in London to ask why not. Nobody in the office except staff, phone ringing all the time not answered- they did not know so rang TG staff at Heathrow who said no problem. They lied and said the rules had just been changed, only travelled with them once after that, customer service was a joke and looks like it still is.

That statement should read "Airlines will ask for the details....."

 

They will check the e-Visa print out carefully.

Also immigration when you arrive. 

Make sure you present the e-Visa along with boarding pass to immigration

No need if there's a problem just call for the manager as I have done in the past and say I'm getting a permanent visa in Thailand, that always seems to work, good luck and don't worry about it.

Your post makes little sense.

Perhaps you were flying visa exempt and asked to see airline supervisor when asked for onward flight.

 

The OP has a Visa so that would not be necessary.
