And that's why Gringo's tend to label each and every Hispanic or Latino they encounter as Mexican.

Seems odd that nobody in their right minds would ever want to live in these happiest of countries. Anyone here fancy retiring in Norway?

I have read that, for a male, being unable to control one's destiny can be quite emasculating.

What's all this hyperbole about the military junta I always hear around here. In material terms what did he actually do to affect peoples happiness?

I think, if you look at GDP by year, most of what people say about the junta is false.  Things are worse now, but the figures don't correlate with the presence of the junta.  It's a lot more recent.  You can understand that people might be annoyed with what happened in the last election, but I'm not sure that it can be blamed entirely for how people are feeling in Thailand.  It's a lot more likely that covid's effect on tourism and the global economy are to blame for how people are feeling now.

Income is down, prices are up, everyone's in a ton of bad debt, foreigners are constantly painted in a bad way, and things that Thai people were able to be proud of before (perhaps falsely) are no longer as true as they were previously.
