What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2025)
I decided to watch a couple of oldies and the night before last it was, "2001 A Space Odyssey" and although I have seen it before (decades ago) I was amazed by it, especially by Stanley Kubrick's vision of the future as regards space travel, because it was brilliant/amazing and something I'd never really realised before. I understood what the beginning was all about, but was puzzled about the ending, so I searched a bit and this is the best description I could find...... "Kubrick responded to Yao’s question regarding the final scene in 2001, where the protagonist Dave Bowman lies in bed, saying, “I tried to avoid doing this ever since the picture came out because when you just say the ideas they sound foolish, whereas if they’re dramatized one feels it.” The director continues, adding, “The idea was supposed to be that he is taken in by god-like entities, creatures of pure energy and intelligence with no shape or form and they put him in what I suppose you could describe as a human zoo to study him, and his whole life passes from that point on in that room and he has no sense of time, it just seems to happen as it does in the film.” To elaborate on this concept, Kubrick notes that the room was a very deliberately inaccurate replica of French architecture to show that the entities had some idea of what Dave would find comforting and familiar like humans do to animals in zoos. Concluding his comments about the film’s ending, Kubrick says, "When they get finished with him, as happens in so many myths of all cultures in the world, he is transformed into some know of superbeing and sent back to Earth. It is the pattern of a great deal of mythology, that was what we were trying to suggest.” -

British Pedophile Captured After 27-Year Manhunt - video
Around 32 years ago in Victoria, Australia, the public feeling about court penalties being too small, that the then state government took out a full page add in the largest newspaper, suggesting various increased penalties, asking the public to tick their preferred choice and return the page by post. The response was absolutely enormous with almost 95% of choices going for the maximum penalties. However the most amazing thing about the questionnaire, was that over 50% of the returns also had written in on the pedifile question that the guilty person should also be automatically castrated. It was the most amazing response any government received in Australia. They did say that although they would like to include the castration request, they could not. -
